I started the quest Still in the dark and went as far as the part were Elder McNamara asks me to find the mission holotapes, also went as far as "(Optional) Help Head Paladin Hardin find a way to oust Elder McNamara from his position."on the optional quests.
I headed out to search for the holotapes and took my sweet time finding them (like 10 hours), When i came back with the tapes "Return to Elder McNamara with the three patrol mission holotapes." McNamara was no longer elder
Now he is called Knight McNamara and Hardin is the Elder, when i talk too him he gives me the key to the Brotherhood safehouse but there is still the option to give him the tapes. I can also give the tapes to McNamara and the quest appears to continue normally except that all npcs treat Hardin as the elder (including Veronica) and his name is now Elder Hardin.

Is this a bug? Did i took too long? Can i fix it?
I really wanted McNamara to be the elder and i can't revert back to a previous save.

Also i am playing on the PC

Found it, it is a bug with the Compiled Patch mod, removed it and reversed back to a save before i encountered the bug.

i never even went with hardins schemes. usually the last person you wanna get angry is the guy in charge of the poeple armed with violent weaponry.

oddly enough, ive never had a bug with the BoS. must be blessed :shrug:
