Hardware and Software glitches after update 10/22

Post » Sat Dec 19, 2009 4:44 am

Ive noticed a few annoying glitches still not fixed with the 360 patched just released

*After 3 hours of play it takes considerably longer to go through load screen doors. Standard time is 3-4 seconds, however I have had it up to 33 seconds. Restarting Xbox usually fixes this issue (might be a caching thing) using a 60 gig HDD on a arcade box. (POST RROD MODELS)

*The metallic dog rex likes to disappear and reappear randomly. even when I do not tell him to stay. Usually happens when I switch quests. I thought I lost him for good, then he randomly appeared in vault 21.
Rex does not seem to obey his stay command, he seems very aggressive even when in passive mode. that needs tweaking.

Major clipping issues. Where NPC's get stuck under walls, or under the ground. Mostly outside

If more then one action is displayed (multiple quest tasks completed at once) and i am entering a new area my XBOX will freeze

Odd freezing/skipping when NPC's are loading while entering in an area. (I use this one to my advantage because I know an enemy spawned)

VATS screen plays, but no action taken from main character, sometimes stays on that screen while enemy NPC still attacks (up to 2 min display screen)

Right bumper sometimes does not trigger VATS(Tested on 3 controllers)

NPC's belonging to cities will sometimes randomly freak out like they are being attacked, even if not dressed up as an apposing faction.

Please Note:
Game installed to harddrive. 40 gigs free, installed it twice.

Thanks

I installed the update, I still can't enter the Strip, I can enter Vault 34 but can't leave it, I still can't enter Helios One. I only tried those 3 things, I'm sure if I had played more than 15 minutes, I would have found more =/

I'm in the same boat. I just popped in New Vegas and got a prompt for a patch download...did all that stuff and now whenever I hit the right bumper to go into VATS, my console locks up and has to be powered down to fix it. I've tried it three times now.

I don't know if it helps but I'm running the fall update beta...but I doubt that's my issue because everything has run fine before now. I've got 10+ hours logged.

I still cannot load either of my two saves since despite downloading an update this morning.
The "game-breaking glitch" has made both my manual and auto save unable to load after putting in about 10 hours of gameplay.
The thread on this bug can be found http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1123230-xbox-360-save-bug-game-breaking-bug/

I just want to play the game I paid full price for, this is getting ridiculous..

Maybe this patch only applies to playthroughs made after the update?

Exactly, delete game saves post patch games played, and start a new game from scratch. i have had no issues (apart from some clipping NPC's) with this method without auto game saves and no DLC. Its not perfect but at least it plays...

140 bucks? Did you get the collector's edition with all the fun goodies =) ?

I paid around $100 because I got the standard edition game but also opted to buy the collector's edition guide (I love these text book style guides full of texts ^__^)

Yeah they really need to thoroughly check these games. I remember fallout 3 locking up on my PS3 all the time. I waited a year to get the rest of the DLC with the Game of the Year edition but the same lock ups still happened. Now I'm playing New Vegas and it's like 10 times worse with the glitches and lock ups and it's completely turned me off from playing the game. I thought the patch would fix stuff but it did nothing to help me and I went back to leaving the game alone, waiting for yet another update.

besides the clipping NPCs and the occasional studdering in Freeside iv yet to have any issues that people are having. Guess Im just lucky. Now the problem I have found is trying to get over the drawbridge into Cesar's part of his camp, takes upwards of 3-4 min to load even if I just cleared the cache.

But that's really unfair to the early adopters like myself. I had around 26 hours of gameplay, 15 levels, most of the skill books, most of the snowglobes, around 40 star caps, a bunch of weapons, a ton of caps (without using the glitch) as well as over 70 places discovered. Starting from scratch is fine once I've beaten the game but dedicated playthroughs being deleted seriously hurts -__-

I have had an issue with entering The Strip as well, particularly the area you enter through Freeside, by the Gomorrah. I used to be able to enter the area fine (I wasn"t locked out as other were) but now every time I enter the area my game crashes and system freezes up causing me to have to power down the system to be able to do anything. Other areas of The Strip are giving me some issues as well, but nothing to this extent.

The issue seems to have started after finishing the quest "Debt Collector" and killing Caleb McCafferty. I was able to access the area once after completing "Ring-a-Ding-Ding" but then the same issues started occurring after exiting the Gomorrah. I am also about half way through the quest in Gomorrah where you have to sneak those hokers out (I can't remember it's name right now) but the issues were non-existent until completing "debt Collector" so I doubt it is related, but I suppose it is a possibility.

Note: Upon Re-booting the system my Auto save file is saying that it is corrupt. Could be due to the fact that the game is crashing as the area loads and auto saves.

Yeah pretty much after downloading the new patch, I can't play the game at all. If I try to fight an enemy, it freezes. If I try to fast-travel, it freezes. I tried loading save files from before the patch. I tried waiting 'til day, thinking maybe the night was the problem, but yeah. Nothing is working. Today was my first day off from work since the game came out. I was really looking forward to playing. :cold:

I have been having troubles with the new patch as well. Game loads are longer, when i try to fast travel from nipton to the south ncr outpost game freezes, when i enter vats on someone it freezes. My autosaves are fine, just game freezes everytime.

It's not Bethesda, it's Obsidian. They do this same thing with every game they develop, they're always a buggy broken mess.

Just asked to cash out my Ultra-Luxe chips into Legion money; took the chips but didn't give me any currency.

Got mine a day early because it was a preorder from GAME.co.uk, and played it without any issue at all, no crashes, installed it to HDD and all was well. Patched it this morning and now I'm having the VATS Freeze issue. Is it confirmed that if you start a new save it is fixed? Not that it should be neccesary. :S

See if one of these workarounds fixes your freezing... http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1126187-vats-crashing-bug-after-first-patch/

I created an account just so I could post on this one forum.... Unfortunate.

The game crashes any time that I attempt to use the vats system. I tried resetting multiple times, same result.

The game is literally unplayable.
