[RELz] Harvest Containers v0.99.xx

Don't get too caught up in that discussion in this thread. Don't want closure risk.

mmmpld still pops in every once in a while, and may have some insight into LadyCat's expansion, so contacting him is a good idea. LadyCat herself has been gone much longer than two or three months, though, I think.

I did have contact with mmmpld via PM in March of this year, in response to a message I sent him in fall 2009. I think at that time he said he was no longer modding for Oblivion. I know--never say never, right? But from that experience, there is a good chance that he still reads his PM's and will respond (although it may take some time).

Sounds good. I think that that is the best we can do for now. If it doesn't work out, maybe after a month or so, we can think about this more then. I think there is still lots of time, but patience varies too...

mmmp1d has nothing to do with the mod that LadyCat was working on. Unless he himself has been doing SI stuff in the meantime. Here is the included readme from LadyCats,

Harvest [Containers] v0.99.14 Information
=========================================
Mod Modders? :P LadyCat (scripting), XMarksTheSpot (animations)
Contact Info: Bethesda messenger - LadyCat

**WARNING: If you use the havoced crates addon already , move your charactger to a place with no crates and save. Quit Oblivion and restart the game. Load this save file. Otherwise you will experience invisible crates!

Required Plugins/Mods:
** OBSE Version 15 or later

Changes from v0.99.13 to v.99.14
* Split Ore Node changes to a choice of respawn or not
* Split optional addons into esm and esp pairs
* SI/Vanilla/Havoc/Player Homes/Flat TOp Barrels - silent open when loading a cell with already opened containers
* havoc crates: corrected multiple sides on cell reload
***WARNING: If you use the havoced crates addon already , move your charactger to a place with no crates and save. Quit Oblivion and restart the game. Load this save file. Otherwise you will experience invisible crates!

Can't Replicate: 'extra' barrel lids (flat top barrel addon or any other barrel)
Can't Fix: 'bouncing' crate sides - I tried but was unable to stop this. I believe its a limitation of the game engine.

Changes from v0.99.12 to v0.99.13
* Split into esm/esp
* split esp into Vanilla and SI (both require the esm, but either or both may be loaded)

TESTING INFORMATION

Tamriel
* gold and silver ore nodes respawn (if option chosen)
* added a chance to get a gem from the ore nodes (if ore respawn option chosen)
* havoc crates should no longer spawn duplicates (ie the multiple side bug)
* nifs run through Pyffi to reduce their size. Note any animation oddities that may have occurred from this. :)
* silent open when loading an a cell with already opened containers

Shivering Isles
* Shivering Isles containers added
* amber and madness ore respawn (if option chosen)
* you can get a gem from madness nodes (if ore node option chosen)
* known missing: order chest
* nifs run through Pyffi to reduce their size. Note any animation oddities that may have occurred from this. :)
* silent open when loading an a cell with already opened containers

Specific Testing needed - SI:
* Test the quest that uses Gloomstone. Amber/madness should respawn. You should be able to use order shards to open the nodes if they are ordered. Ie: other than respawning and autoloot of the contents, they should behave the way the original ones did. :)
* Money box on the roof above Crucibles Entrance
* general testing

Other Notes:
XMarksTheSpot has indicated if there was enough interest that he'd do animations for missing containers. So do let me know a list of containers you find that are not animated - and note if they are added by a mod or not (for example, I've noted beer barrels from COBL). For my part if there is enough interest, I'll make add-ons for the various mods if they use existing nifs.

Now I know she wanted it released eventually. I am sure that if everything was as bug free as possible she would have released it. I just imagine that time got the better of her, and I believe that if we release it giving full credit to her and XMarksTheSpot and say that there will be no further support unless she wants to finish it that it wouldn't be a problem. That's just what I think though. She hasn't been to the forums since Jun 17 2009, and that is almost a year ago.

A handful of overly ego-invested modders who have gotten their knickers in a twist does not constitute "an ongoing debate" any more than the existence of the Creation Museum does likewise. Withholding the release of a mod which was obviously slated for release pending beta testing, and which has been beta tested for a year with no issues found, is not "respecting the modder's rights;" it's an overt suggestion that the modder might be a whiny brat. Yes, we've had our share, but assuming that every baby is made of bathwater is not an appropriate response!

Credit where credit is due is a reasonable "modder's right," and is being given (in spades). Not implying that a modder will support something they didn't personally upload, likewise, and likewise. But sitting on our thumbs because someone's attention has wandered away from this particular scene is nothing but self-flagellation. I vote we assume LadyCat is not a complete [censored], and upload that baby already.

Edit: The censored word was synonymous with "donkey." Not sure why that one got filtered. :P

I do think though that it be uploaded to the Harvest Team TesNexus page, since it does carry on the version numbering of the original Harvest containers, and does contain the original Harvest Containers while making only minor changes (as noted in the readme I quoted above). If no one can get a hold of them I will upload what I have, OBMM script and stuff included, somewhere on TesNexus. I think this is a mod that everyone should have access to.

Thanks for contacting me Torrello.

This is a quote from a PM from LadyCat on 18 June 2009:
...I was going to release this version (.14) pretty soon unless I hear more about bug fixes being needed in the stuff I did.

Thank you for the offer of help though! I'd be fine with handing .14 over to you to expand on if you were willing to take up the reins. :P

I think it would be ok to upload the beta at this point.
If someone could volunteer to package the mod for a public release and PM me a link I'll uploaded it where I can.

Nexus lists the Harvest Containers SI mod as optional. The way it is structured with ESMs and ESPs, I'm not sure if it replaces the main plugins or not? The version is 0.99.14, the previous is 0.99.10. The author is different, that's why I want to clarify.

I'm pretty sure Harvest Containers SI is an update. It includes two separate plugins - one for vanilla and one for SI. I just finished downloading and installing it myself!

Ditto. I had to go looking for that when Petras put out his filter patch for it since the original mod doesn't have the ESM. The new author simply continued on with the original work.

It is, and it's surprising how much of a touch of realism the mod is in general. The only real beef I have with it is that if something is sitting on top of a container it doesn't get bumped off by the lid opening. I'm not talking about bumping off another container, stuff like clothing and other already havoked items.

I wonder if it has to do with the inertia though. I didn't think things would be disturbed, but I opened a lid on a barrel once and the apple that had been sitting on top, did appear to fall into the barrel! Of course it didn't, I think it fell behind, but it was disturbed by me opening the lid...

Anyway haven't played with the new version yet, have to see how it goes...

Ok great! I will replace with the new version. I think it was "SI" in the name that through me off.
Thanks for taking time away from playing to answer my question. :)
