Harvesting the dead for decorative skulls

Post » Thu May 05, 2011 1:06 pm

hey was jus thinking it would be cool to harvest skulls from your fallen foes including man, beast folk, and the animals, and also the dremora skulls with the horns, and if possible the giants, does anyone think this is a good idea??? i would create a lair that looked something like that halway on house of 1000 corpses

Absolutely. This is a very good idea.

There have been "throphy" or decorative skulls in both Oblivion and Morrowind in houses. It would bring a lot more meaning to this if you could get them from your kills.

Actually one of the few suggestions that isn't that far fetched. Would work perfectly as decoration for your house instead if having to go out and buy furniture. Feels like an awesome accomplishment too. If not, they could at least limit the skulls to creatures of legend or something. And most of all, it actually fits in Skyrim's atmosphere.

Not a bad idea, and not far-fetched either. Judging by The Fighter's Stronghold DLC from OB I would wager this wouldn't be very difficult to add for trophy collecting. Especially since they already have at least one skull model we've been shown (the Giant with the Frost Troll decorative skull).

"prepares for epic chameleon action with bow, magic fireballs, and huge dual wielded handheld blades in Skyrim a la' the ultimate hunter - Predator" :chaos:

"places skulls of native Skyrim dangerous game, man, mer, daedra, and DRAGONS on epic trophy wall" :shifty:

"turns around to be surprised by Danny Glover....." :lmao:

Erm, the fantasies some people have... Well, you could add skulls of pre-laid skeletons in dungeons in Oblivion, as they were treated as clutter. That, and their ribcages as well. Wasn't that enough? :vaultboy:

right... i wouldn't hate it, but , MAN SKULLS, maybe beasts, or monsters, but not man skulls, the only inteligent race i would get a skull of would be the argonians, nothing agaisnt them, they are my favorite race, is just that their skull would look AWESOME in my shelf...

EDIT: I think it should be part of a skill, maybe.... humm....yea...there is definitly NO skill where SKULL HUNTING could be added =[ maybe, it could be part of your luck, you wouldn't get a skull all the time, it depends on your luck.. i know it doesn't make sense since every creature has a skull, but yea it would make the SKULL trophy alot more valuable and rare! GOD DAMNIT ULTIMATE SUPER RARE DRAGON SKULL !!!1ONEone11!!!11!

No, it's a mirrored picture, but I think that there's still a chance at having that.

But I want my house to have a bunch of skulls on display and make a room look like that room on the ship from predator 2.

that can go one of two ways.
1) yes and everyone is happy.
2) its just one big piece of armor like in fallout 3 and we all cry.

Well, there's actually proof for and against the fact that it might be like Oblivion's armor system. The chest piece on the Dovahkiin is just one proof for Oblivion's because of the attached shoulder piece. But I think that i's quite possible trying to equip a let Pauldron with it on will make a message pop up saying "there's a conflicting piece of armor on and this item can not be equipped".

Ahem. Back to Topic

Nice idea. I did something similar in morrowind. I trapped soulgems of powerful beings to keep as trophies. I.E. when trapped The gem actually read "Soul of Dagoth" ect. Out of the many things I didn't like about Oblivion I could have cared less.Taking out named soul gems was a Failure of the highest order.

To add to that they should add Taxidermy as a side job skill. Create your on trophies of the beasts you've slain. Nuthin says cool like a dragonscale rug in front of your fireplace. :foodndrink:

Hell I do this in Oblivion. Not taking them from my enemies (please add this!) but whenever I find a skull I take it and put it in my "Victim Room" in my house. Just a 6ft pile of skulls

I will do it if its in. Both the skull collecting, and the taxidermy, etc... I say this, because it sounds like an awesome idea, and I truly hope that it gets into the game...

Yes! FTW! (No Danny Glover though  )

C'mon, you just know, magic or not, if a Predator could, he'd go to Skyrim to take on those dragons....that's the most dangerous game, man! :gun:

Why can't we just take them all as trophies first? :D

That would've made for quite an interesting trailer...

Instead of a dragon shout he just charges his plasma caster.

Spear for the finisher though. He's not a pansy. Speaking of which...a spear would be a great weapon against a dragon..... :toughninja:

OT: If I don't have the oppurtunity to collect at least one dragon skull for my house, I will be disappointed. Not to mention you could collect dragonhide, bones, blood, claws, teeth....
Another great option......you could do a heck of a lot with a wooly mammoth, just like our ancestors IRL.

A lot of cool options there....I just hope they make some awesome crafting options to go along with all the crazy powerful game we'll be hunting.

Personally, my kind of trophies are normally more...obscure shall we say?

In Fallout 3 I'd often leave places with an item that reminded me of that place. Usually a belonging of someone important inside.

In Oblivion there wasn't really much I could take as a trophy, so at later levels I would simply strip the body of all armour and either sell it, or add it to a collection.

Taking souls from enemies would work for me, or trapping their magicka and creating a special memento from it: a charm or something, just to remind me of them. Could even name them...

And why not just finish a dragon with your bare hands? Let all dragons know that they face the threat of an embarrassing and humilating death at your hands.

This is a really cool idea. The only problem is/would be... creating a skull resource for every creature in the game. That's a lot of weird-shaped skulls to model and texture, for the sake of a very minor feature.

Perhaps necromancer PCs could collect bones and eventually create their own skeletal monster/bone golem.

More realistically, I'm rather hoping there are Nordic trollbone and dragonbone items in the game.
