Has anybody made a mod for harvesting plants like in oblivio

I think it was a vast improvement on the morrowind style, and if anybody could point me in the direction of mods that facilitate the gameplay like that, I would appreciate it.

I think there are some "harvest" mods, but personally I use http://webpages.charter.net/manauser/morrowind/

It has been 2 years since I played Oblivion last time, but IIRC Oblivion can't harvest the flora like you described(You need Harvest Flora to do that).

Anyways, I seconded Graphic Herbalism, or you can look http://www.mwmythicmods.com/Gluby/Gluby_Herbalism_Mods.htm for any other herbalism mod.

Actually, Oblivion can harvest flora like I described, since I asked for a mod that allowed me to harvest plants like it was done in Oblivion, sort of by definition.

I wonder, did these mods spring up after Oblivion came out? Or were these mods out before Oblivion, and Bethesda decided to integrate them because they saw the practicality of it?

"As in most herbalism mods, you pick plants just by activating them instead of opening them like a container." This is basically what i was after, but this part, "But in this mod only the part you pick disappears instead of the whole plant..." concerns me. Does the plant ever come back?

You want Graphic Herbalism. When the plant respawns, it, or whatever part of it is picked, will reappear.

Check out "gather ye rosebuds" mod; it's a game changer for some character types. (for better or worse)

But I dont want the plant to disappear at all. I want it to be as close to oblivion's system as possible. I think I've found the mod for me:

"Herbalism Lite v1.0 [Shakeidas]: A simpler alternative that also automatically transfers gathered ingredients to inventory without a container dialog when one clicks on harvestable plants, but avoids the use of new skills. It is particularly notable for the fact that, unlike the others, picked plants do not visually disappear, which avoids spoiling the aesthetic appeal of the landscape, but makes it impossible to visually know which have been picked or respawned. [Dec. 2003. Modular plugins: one for Morrowind, one for Tribunal, and one for Bloodmoon. Note that the base Morrowind plugin has errant GMSTs that should be cleaned from the mod before use. The Tribunal and Bloodmoon expansion plugins are clean.]"

As others have said before me, Graphic Herbalism is the one that behaves the closest to Oblivion. When you pick a plant, it is replaced by a 'harvested' model until its contents respawn.

Yes, but apparently he wants it to be like vanilla Oblivion, not like "Harvest Flora." Bizarre, but to each his own. *chuckle*

...yes, as the herbalism lite description says, "picked plants do not visually disappear, which avoids spoiling the aesthetic appeal of the landscape" I don't get why that's so strange. All i really want is to be able to pick plants without opening containers, which is why I think herbalism lite is just the thing for.

Indeed, I just can't empathize with worrying about briefly "spoiling the landscape." *shrugs* Amazing how subjective these things are eh?

I have used Graphical Herbalism before and it doesn't spoil the landscape since the plant is still there after being harvested and it has just been altered to show that you have taken a part of the plant.

Are you sure Graphic Herbalism is like that? Some of Ascadian Isles plants disappeared when I picked it in my game using Graphic Herbalism

I use Herbalism for purists. This harvests the plants without the box. The plant model disappears, but respawns later.

It depends on what the ingredient picked is: sometimes it is the whole plant, in which case the plant disappears, and sometimes it is just a portion of a plant (leaves, berries, pods, etc.) in which case just that disappears leaving the rest of the plant.

Yeah some of the plants disappear but those are plants that should likely disappear because you would have taken the entire plant. (Mushrooms for example) I think the ones that disappear are small plants so wouldn't have much of a visual impact on the landscape and if you are using MGE with a grass mod you wouldn't even notice it missing anyways.

it wouldn't be briefly because I harvest plants constantly, so everywhere I went I would be leaving a swath of harvested plants behind me. Additionally, it seems the impact I would have on the landscape would be different for different plants, which isn't a very pleasing idea either.

What exactly do you find appealing about that form of harvesting? I've already explained why I find my system appealing, so I don't think the question is too inappropriate. Is it realism?

For me, it is not only the realism, but also the convenience of being able to look at a plant and know I've harvested it. Even with the lite mod, I found I was constantly trying to pick plants that had already been harvested. IRL, if I'm picking blackberries, I can see where I've been by the fact there are no more ripe berries there.

Hmm, that gave me a thought, it would be nice to see immature buds on flowering plants and unripe berries on comberry bushes remain behind when harvesting the plants. That way, you'd get the best of both worlds, a part of the plant remains, but you can see at a glance that you've already picked it. Maybe even little baby mushrooms at the base of the mature ones. Unfortunately, that would require the "harvested" textures to be remade and I'm not an artist.

Not only harvested textures but meshes also.
