Has anybody returned to Helgen?

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 9:10 am

Not for the Main Quest, if it takes part.
I'm only at level five. I still have Helgen Keep key and I can't seem to get rid of it.
So I'd thought I'll go check the place out. The new residents are mean.

What residents? I've only gone back immediately after leaving as a reflection moment for my character.

I also went back just to get stuck between a fallen pillar and some burned wood and after trying everything else I could think of to get myself out even fast travel (Enemys close by) I had to reload. So I wont be going back.

In my game it's always got overrun with bandits (rather sad bandits). Nothing really separated it from any other dungeon at that point. Go in, kill bandits, kill bandit chief, loot boss chest, leave.

I dont know how long it takes but after a while bandits move in, threw me off as well as I had originally made my way to Helgen just after I got to Riverwood just to see the damage, then when I came back later passing through on my way to a quest I found the gates locked and Bandits within the walls.

I did, yes. It was my first outing with Faendal. I found myself fighting off all the bandits myself after a short while and thought my new companion had died on me or something. Instead, I found him stuck on a staircase. It took a fast travel to clear it up. I was thinking, "Oh, wouldn't that just be the way? I ditch Lydia for her attitude, and my new guy dies of old age on a staircase?"

when doing the quest with barbas, i lost him for quite a while after some [censored] bandits and a bear and a troll (it happens...) held me up. i eventually found him in helgen fighting off bandit wizards all by his lonesome.

I did and ironically after killing some bandits declaring squatters rights i got ambushed by a frost dragon and thanks to the lack of resistance post 1.2 its breath got me low enough for it to bust out its chomp the head one shot kill me. Who would have thought returning would have sealed my headless fate. (though I didn't lose my head, but by the glitched animation I should have)

I've been through there twice and each time, the doors are relocked and it's full of bandits. Real annoying.

Very soon in the game, maybe just after becoming Thane in Whiterun and gaining a Thanecarl, we went on our first "outside" journey to Ivarstad to make a loop around the mountain and see what we could see (holding off on the main quest). At that time, the city was still in ruins and empty. It would have been a poignant moment, but Lydia kept getting stuck.

When I go there, it's just bandits. It's a bit annoying, It would have been nice to have had a small quest line to rebuilt Helgen and become it's mayor... but considering the state of the other major questlines maybe it's for the best that Bethesda did not do that...
