Has anyone beaten that VERY hard legendary monster called...

The Uderfrykte Matron? It was incredibly strong in the lowest difficulty. Has anyone ever fought it? It lives around Dive Rock. It's pretty hard getting there.

Yeah I kick its ass usually. The first time I didn't see it coming, but after I figured out it's basically just a troll on steroids I always take fire damage spells or weapons with me when I go near Dive Rock.

Yeah its a bit over the top and the rewards are pretty much non-existant but then again you don't have to fight it.

Yep. The first time I fought it, I would have died if I hadn't had some healing potions on me. I didn't have the appropriate weapons, poisons or spells, so that was a really tough fight.

Yes, it is a tough challenge. Especially for a fragile mystic archer who refuses to touch any weapon except for a bow.

However. . . http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/ScreenShot569.jpg

It's a hidden quest. You may also see references to "the horror at dive rock" in notes and rumors. Like I said, she's a troll on steroids who is sometimes inexplicably invisible, which I believe was a goofy mistake on the part of the devs. Her name is a reference to a quest monster you had to kill in Bloodmoon, a previous Elder Scrolls expansion for Morrowind. The assumption is she's the mother of that beast. He was also somewhat of a troll beast. She has the same strengths and weaknesses as other trolls.

I guess since this is the Matron, and your character supposedly 'killed' her troll son in Morrowind (assuming u played it), this 'questline' parallels with Beowulf's saga, where he is called upon to fight some being named Grendel and then is faced with its avenging Mother.

The first time I encountered it, I got owned. But then I learned that fire can take it down with little effort, so I haven't had trouble with it since.

Yeah that's what they were going for, especially when you consider the Scandanavian sounding monster name.

Meh. I was expecting a huge battle and monster.... I owned her in about five seconds. I play between 75 to 90 percent difficulty.

Only in MW Bloodmoon I encountered some monster with that name. Never in OB though.

The Matron has a fixed level, so the difficulty of defeating her would be highly dependant on your own level.

My character killed her at level about level 18 herself.

That also makes her a way for a low level character to get a grand soul for enchanting.

Wow! Another brilliant point. Perhaps more palatable to some than stuffing a level 2 bandit into a black soul gem. :P

Yep. I was lvl 35, so it made some sense I owned it in about 30 seconds. I used some magical arrows, and flame weapon. :flamethrower:

Since she's way up in a range of almost unclimbable mountains, I hadn't bothered to go do that side-quest until recently. A mod I'm working on needed a remote cave so I placed it up in the same general area, and ran into her unexpectedly during a test run to the cave. She's a real nuisance to a lowish-level character when her ice shader fails to show! Especially if you don't have a decent level of Detect Life to substitute for it. Fortunately a fire-dealing enchanted sword helps a lot, as it does with any troll, and the flames make her visible.
