Has anyone completed the game with this build?

Post » Wed Jun 19, 2013 11:13 am

I am trying to roleplay with this build and I am wondering if it is possible.

expert difficulty

sword and board

100 skill in: one-handed, heavy armor and blocking

using ebony armor and sword (upgraded to fine, the highest I can do)

I never use potions during combat

my hud is turned off

I do not use any followers

I don't buy magic items, only use what I find. (still looking for a good magic ebony sword).

A sword and Board with limited Smithing skill?

I'd say that has been done by thousands of people and quite viable at that.

Thanks. What I don't want to do is play the fight, run and heal, fight, run and heal game.

What's your long-distance weapon, anything?

I have any ebony bow that does fire damage, but archery without the hud is brutal.

I can imagine - have yet to turn off the HUD myself. With regard to 'finishing' the game, I guess it depends on what you mean. I don't think you'll have any problem completing the main quest with this build. Would you consider the game finished at this point (I'm guessing not; there'd still be tons and tons of stuff to discover).

This is not a very stealthy build so the Thieve's Guild quest might be challenging. I've never done the Dark Brotherhood. The College of Winterhold could be tough if you keep your magicka at 100 and invest solely in Stamina and Health. However, this build should excel at the Companions, CIvil War, or Bard's College quests. Good luck!

Of course it's viable :)

My build is much worse, and I play on Master with no HUD.

That is awesome - I wondered if it would resonate with anyone. Glad to see some folks from that era. Those were really happy times.

the never using potions during combat may be difficult. It all depends on your skills and how big a health pool you have. Probably going to get killmoved by a dragon a few times.

As far as people complaining about no ranged attack, you don't have to have one. You can avoid a dragon's breath attacks until it lands, and if it can't land then you lead it somewhere it can. As long as you have proper magic defenses it isn't such a big deal. Once you catch the dragon on the ground you can deal some major damage quickly with melee. I suggest moving to the side of the dragon as the wing slaps hurt less than a tail whack or a bite, and shield bash the dragon when it breathes fire.

I couldn't complete half my fights if it wasn't for the healing spell...forget melee only

Not really, the only thing you need magicka for is the first test. Even then if you keep the novice hood you should have enough. You only need to cast a few novice spells after that.

Anything is do-able as long as you put your mind to it... Also, change your avatar... It disgusts me. :D
