Has anyone created a decent looking Bosmer ?

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 12:12 pm

Hello once again, just asking, has anyone here created a decent looking Wood Elf ? I just can't stand them but I'm mystically drawn to them somehow and every time I try to make a new wood elf they just turn out to be horribly ugly ? Inspiration please !

Someday I might get bored of my first character and actually continue playing that one.

Mines not good looking as such but he has a goatee beard that's tied at the end. He has long hair and long pony tailed hair. Not a traditional narrow face but a little wider and shorter :)

There are some nice ones in the show us your character threads.

Personally though I like the alien look the elves have going on, so lots look decent to me (ones with human and non-human looking faces).

Well, they certainly look more diverse then a standard human so the beauty is what you make of it.

no idea how or if i even can post a screenshot of one i made this morning. its on ps3 :( but yeah i like the way she turned out. you just gotta factor in that they naturally have a more ratty look to them. their hair, chins, eyes etc. are not the type that we are accustomed to seeing as "decent looking". there is a way to make them look more human, by reducing the length of the chin, messing with the skin tone and complexion and tweaking the eyes, brows, cheekbones and jawline around to make the face a bit... rounder i guess. not as gaunt.

That actually looks pretty good, how long did it take you?

Meh, the Alien look is just too much for me, might be because I prefer the Lord of the Rings' Elves more.

Mine is alright. He is still alien sort of with those eyes colored but he looks evil as I'm role-playing as an evil character.

Can't remember really.

All I know is I got tired of trying to make a decent looking Altmer and gave in to the fact that a Bosmer would better fit the thief/assassin playthrough I was gonna do.

I made an asian looking one by playing with chin width, eye shape, eye depth, and eye width. War paint helps to smooth the oddities out, too. In scale armor, he almost looks like samurai.

A lot of the prebuilds can be made to look great without much effort. For a couple of races I know which preset to use and how to change it to make it looking to my liking. A lot of the ugliness comes from the complexion and dirt sliders. Oh and for the Wood Elves, you can always change their eye shape so its less slanted vertically to a normal horizontal direction with a slight slant. That's what I prefer on my Wood Elves. Just sit around in the creator for a little while and figure out what you like. My strategy is I don't mess with the face sliders much because when you figit with them and you don't know what you're doing (me) it can get pretty ugly. So a recap. Complexion and dirt sliders are a general cause of ugliness. Eye shape is also important. Keep it simpler for better looks in my opinion. Provided you're like me and just doesn't like to mess with many of the face sliders. The biggest tip I can give is to find the best looking (in your opinion) face on a preset, then work from there.

If you're on PC, I'd recommend this mod:

Gets rid of those creepy Romulan brows and ridiculously wrinkled nose-forehead on males.

I don't normally rate dudes, but when I do, they are usually elven.

Anyway, I agree with this poster. I'm on 360, so I can't post but I remember creating my woodelf. Try the preset under the second "e" in preset, it is #6 on 360. Then drop his complexion all the way to the left. Adjust skin tone/hair color as necessary.

If he's anywhere near as handsome as your Avatar, it will be AMAZING!

No problem bud, just find a face to you liking and work from there. Try to not pay attention to the hair and beards since they can be changed before you're done. I wish I could make a video of how I do a couple characters to make them look pretty good, though I'm on PS3 so no such luck. Good luck!
