Has anyone ever just played as the unchanged character?

Post » Tue Feb 02, 2010 12:07 pm

When we start up a new game, we start off as a male Imperial. Just wondering if anybody has ever done Oblivion with this guy, without any changes at all to his face, age, hair, etc.

I'm thinking of starting my 2nd male character as this guy and it struck me that there's a possibility of others here doing so before me.

I don't play male characters in any game, so no. I also don't like Imperials (or the Empire itself) so, double no.

I never play as any of the Human races, so no, I have never used the generic Imperial guy you start as.

Bendu Olo

That's the name of the default male Imperial character.

Now that I think about it, I'll probably start a new character and play as him. I think it's time this default Imperial male gets in on the action, don't you think?

EDIT: Done! He'll be an assassin in my game.

Would be interesting to do this and get stuck with whatever class Baurus gives you.

Yea, I'm not sure what he'll be in my game. He looks kinda humble. A bit older, but not middle-aged yet. Hmmm...maybe he'll be just a traveller in my game. No dungeon-diving. Not sure yet.

That's actually a cool idea! I'd roll some dice to pick the star-sign, too.

Haha yay. You could just go with the first one on the list too. Or maybe try and turn your birthday into an oblivion day and then see what birthsign that corresponds to.

I can't remember who started it, but there was a recent thread where people used a random number generator to decide everything about their new character. Race, six, skills, everything. I tried it, and the results were rather .... interesting. If you want to make a truly challenging character, thats the way to go.

I made a male Imperial Blade named Bendu Olo once, but I did mess with the face and age.

Imperial Male is my main character.. How come when it comes to video games I always like what everyone else seems to hate? :P (Imperials here, and Enclave in FO)

Anyway, he's an Assassin, although I think the idea is brilliant to go in as completely default. You'll be playing the game's canon story to the letter. :P

I did for my first ever character. Male Imperial with no face changes and the pre-made Warrior class. It was the first time I'd ever played a TES game and the first time I'd even heard of the series. I'd watched millions of videos on youtube, decided it was the best game ever and brought it. I was so exited that I didn't bother to change the Race or appearance.

That's awesome. I can't tell you how many "RPGs" I've played in the past that barely give us any choice about the character we play at all, so Oblivion for me has always been about the customized face, class, etc.

Well I didn't start the default character guy yet. Maybe I'll name him "D. Faultius" or something, ha ha.

Or how about General Eric Kairk'tir. That way, when it's abbreviated it becomes; Gen. Eric Kairk'tr. See? :hubbahubba:

Spoiler
Generic character, for those of you who didn't get it. :P

No I have not and wouldn′t dream of it. I play as Dunmer but am a Nord at heart so either one of them is my choice. I have played with the same Dunmer all along however :)

Nope, never. I also don't recall ever playing one of the offered classes when I saw I could make my own.

Yeah...No. Thought about it for maybe ten seconds. Realized that I'd have to look at that face every time I opened the inventory screen.

I have played several characters who accepted Baurus' choice. Baurus is well liked, and his judgment is sound.
