Has anyone had this problem with Point Lookout?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 3:50 am

:Possible Spoilers:

I am at Point Lookout in a mansion helping a Ghoul against raider attack.

Two problems:

1. When the doors are bust open, the planks stay suspended in mid air, making it hard for the AI and myself to get through. This defintely a bug- Is it possible a Mod has caused this?

2. Upstairs again, wooden planks block the way and there is no way on. Not sure if this is meant to be, a mod bug or a dveloper bug.

Any ideas?

Sounds like another mod is interfering - I've been through that mansion a bunch of times and never had an issue like that.

I've never heard of this problem either. Could you post your mod list?

Ok here`s an update.

After work I retried the game from just outside the mansion again. Went in and this time everything was working. The planks fell to the floor allowing me to carry on and it was ok upstairs as well. I did not alter or change the Load Order at all.

There `s only ONE thing that was different: It was RAINING before when the game was bugging up, but on my Reload, it was not raining.

Could the weather Mod have caused the bug?

The only other option could be that my PC needed a rest. maybe there was some kind of mempry problem?

Curious.

It's a shame there's no ORI command for Fallout 3. I would suggest opening up any mod that affects Point Lookout in TESNip and see if any of them affect that particular cell. There might be a better way though.

First off, some of that stuff just doesn't work together. Phalanx and FWE: Followers Enhanced don't go together. You're missing a FWE-Ironsights Overhaul Kit module for Mart's Mod. RH_Ironsights plugins shouldn't be loaded at all with the Overhaul mod, IguanaMod is already in MMM, Enhanced Weather's plugin shouldn't be loaded with the Dynamic plugins, FWE is at version 6, so the Amy Wong - FWE 5 plugin needs to be looked at, and you reeeeeeally need to run BOSS on the list, as even the plugins with correct compatibility are giving each other problems with the current setup. Moreover, you should load the setup in Bash and make a Bashed Patch to deal with some of the stuff. Even just loading up in FO3Edit should give some idea of what's going wrong. Also, have you been using the Fomod creation style of installing mods, or just drag-dropping into Data?

Run BOSS on the list, then check the various mods' descriptions and sites for compatibility warnings. If that works fine, install and load Wrye Bash, then build a Bash Patch with at least Merge Patches, Import Npc Faces, Alias Mod Names, FormID LIsts, Leveled Lists and Race Records checked.

Point of note: the FWE - Overhaul Ironsights mod is still buggy. That should be the first removed-this comes from personal experience, the mod's concept is excellent, but the execution is as of yet incomplete.

...snip...IguanaMod is already in MMM...snip...

Not true, the quest in the mod is not included in MMM, and the IguanaMod and MMM work just fine together.

Other than that part, though, all 100% accurate info there.

Had a feeling i`d be getting the 3rd degree about my Mods. thanks for the info, but...

I have listened to a lot of advice before about certain things I should or shouldn`t do. Some of this advice works, some of this advice just makes things worst.

After weeks of trial and error and much testing I have finally come across a combination that isn`t crashing every 5 minutes. Everything seems to work really well now and I`ve been running this game for 4 days now with only one crash per 3-4 hour session. In the recent past day i`ve had no crashes only the strnge problem which I mentioned earlier which has now resolved itself. Even the rain isn`t affecting it any more. All my texture problems have gone, my NPCs are working just as they should do, no problems (remember, I spent a LONG time trial and error testing). Strange how Follwers enhanced and Phalanx don`t go together since I don`t see any problems so far... and I`ve been using this a long while no probs that I can see.

Didn`t someone say one enhanced weather part of the mod can work with the dynamic weather mod?

The FWE Overhaul Ironsights Mod has given me no probs at all- I am getting all the 1st person shooting I need- I have not seen anything wrong except that of course some guns are not exactly true to life in how they work, but I can overlook that considering what a major realistic change this thing makes to my game! Really, I love this Mod too much to drop.

I won`t touch bash after my previous experience, but I may have a look at BOSS since I successfully ran that with Oblivion. However, like I said I spent a lot of time moving load orders and running acroos the wastland (NOT Fast Travelling) testing points where the game would consistently CTD, etc, etc.

I`m the kind of guy who stays with what works rather than what i`m told should work if all my testing is proving contrary. So I will stay with this until I see things start to go wrong (if they do). I really don`t want to mess around reaaranging things again just to watch crashes every 5 minutes start all over again. Also, I often see one person here say one combo is wrong then someone else pops up saying it`s ok... Contradictions. That`s why I ultimately test for myself. I use advice as advice, not as concrete that something will work for me.

But I appreciate your advice and will keep a watch on my game to see what happens. :)

ps. Forgot to say most of these were installed with FOMOD. Some were `drop in` manual installs. I used FO3 to masterupadte them all, although it didn`t indicate problems.

pps. Did you know that there`s an option NOT to use Follower`s Enhanced in FWE? I`ve just remembered that I have that FWE Followers disabled. This could explain why Phalanx works ok for me. Y` see, this is what I mean when I say one must test for himself.

@Red Eye: Was not aware of this. Will take a look at the combo, thanks for the heads up.

@ Shield: Dynamic weather Does use parts of Enhanced weather. Thing is, only the ESM from Enhanced can be used-Dynamic's Rain module uses this, and could possibly cause problems with Enhanced's rain.

...Looking back, I admit I may have jumped the gun by running rampant over your load. I've noticed that I tend to try to deconstruct the whole problem just to fix one little issue.

My main recommendation still stands, tho-make a load order backup with whatever tool, then update and run Boss. Worst case, just restore the load.

Also, care to elaborate on issues with Bash?

You can use a couple, actually, at least Xepha has stated they shouldn't be bad - that is the Weather Sounds in Interiors and the Radioactive Rain and Snow plugin as well (to make Dynamic's rain radioactive if I recall). The rain and snow in the wasteland esp is not compatible nor is the Rainbows add-on to my knowledge. If I remember correctly, this is all mentioned on the Nexus download page for Dynamic.

EDIT: Well, I was wrong, but only partially, the Nexus page says this:

============================
Compatibility:
============================

Will *not* work with other weather mods, e.g. Fellout, Wasteland Moods, Wasteland Weather Overhaul, etc..

Dynamic Weather - Rain has been designed to work with the parts of Enhanced Weather - Rain and Snow as outlined in the Dynamic Weather - Rain Readme - Read it!

So, jumping to the specified Readme file from the package provides what I was talking about:

Please note that Skingrad24's Enhanced Weather - Rain and Snow in Fallout.ESP is NOT required and should NOT be used if you want to utilize Dynamic Weather's Rain weather types and climate.

Enhanced Weather - Rain and Snow.ESM IS required and should be loaded before Xepha's Dynamic Weather.esm. Please see the Load Order below.

The following Enhanced Weather esp's have been reported to work successfully (Load them just before Dynamic Weather esp's):

Enhanced Weather - Weather Sounds in Interiors.esp
Enhanced Weather - Radioactive Rain and Snow Plugin.esp

The following Enhanced Weather esp's have been reported to have little to no chance of working:

Enhanced Weather - Rainbows.esp *might* work
Enhanced Weather - Sneak Bonus during Storms.esp absolutely will NOT work. Use my Dynamic Sneak Bonus plugin instead.

Not sure if I have the time or inclination (or strength) to explain the adventures I had with bash that destroyed two games.

Maybe later.

I think the point about using only the esm from Enhanced Rain has been covered to death.

Shield Watcher - any time you want to give bash a try again. Let me know I may be able to help.
