That may be true but some people who haven't played some of the older ones may not have seen it. I myself included because I didn't play anything before Morrowind. It is a bit nice to look at it and see locations ahead of time.

If that map predates the morrowind game, doesn't that make it thousands of years old? How accurate would a map over a millennium old be?

Exactly. Not very accurate.

Why would it be thousands of years old? what are you measuring it from?

I'm pretty sure that's just a fan made map of the province and was made some time ago, most likely based off of the arena map and a few other sources. I'll admit it's nice to look at, and to answer your question; it isn't so much that there's a new map, as it is that this was never an official map and there are a number of inaccuracies in both town and city location, as well as landscape features when compared to what Bethesda have turned the province into for the upcoming game.

That map is based off Arena.

but that would only make it 200 and 30 odd years old.

Which means it isn't something i'd consider too accurate.

say what? according to the uesp the skyrim game takes place in the third century in the fourth era. I dont know the exact time, but i know it cant be a mere 200 years old.

EDIT: I counted, Arena starts in 3E 389, Skyrim starts around 4E 200, so about 411 years if my math is correct.

Skyrim takes place 200 years after the Oblivion Crisis. Arena takes in the 3E 399 and Oblivion takes place in the 3E 433, only 34 years after Arena. which is why Uriel Septim VII is in both games

From the icons, I'll hazard a guess that it's from an Oblivion mod that had a Skyrim worldspace.

Fan-made Skyrim mod for Morrowind.

Sadly I cannot find the old Youtube videos from it anymore.

Ohh not to mention that the Fourth era was declared right after the Oblivion Crisis ended. so that took some years off.
