Has fallout NV gotten any better yet?

Post » Sun Feb 14, 2010 10:31 pm

I am.. or was, rather, a die hard fallout fan. From the beginning of the game series.. ive played them all. I eagerly awaited fallout new vegas.. I had a coke in a glass bottle all ready to be drank while i sat and played the new game the day it released. Well the day came and i started playing, and started crying. I would love to tell you how the game is, except it was so damn glitchy. :/ not to mention the new vegas strip was completly deserted. It just didnt feel right at all.

Is it better now? tell me something inspirational so i will play it again.

A few title updates have hit since release, if thats how long its been for you. I never had any of the game-crashing glitches everyone says they were hit by, so the best inspiration I can give is - its worth playing if the game plays for you. I enjoyed Fallout 3 a little more, but the Mojave is unique, the characters are unique, and its worth checking out the plot and side plots. (And cracking open that coke)

Coming from someone who's an avid game player, and have been for the last 25 years, this remains one of the best games every made - for many reasons. Just my opinion I know, and there will be many others who will disagree, but if you aren't playing it just because you think the strip was 'deserted' then you maybe you shouldn't even be thinking of playing it again, and instead move on to something else.

The strip isn't any more full than it was before...

Also, as someone pointed out in another thread, its dropped to under 20 bucks at gamestop - worth buying again if you've lost it.

Patch 1.2 fixed most of the glitches but not all. Another patch is imminent...could be any day depending on your system. See the sticky above for an update. My fingers are crossed the bug that's been bothering me will be fixed in the new patch. :)

I agree that it's one of the best games I've ever played. I've had 7 characters doing different things and even with the occasional crashing and occasional story problems, I've had a great time. There's never going to be a perfect game when they're pushing the envelope with these open world games. I just believe that and accept it and it makes my life easier and more fun. I thought there wasn't enough bug testing on this game, for time reasons I suppose, but I think once you get in there and get going, you're going to have a great time...so many choices, so much to do. With all the choices, it's going to challenge you. Be a little pragmatic and go explore without worrying about the quests. Good luck and I hope I'll see you in Freeside at the Atomic Wrangler or The Tops in New Vegas. :)

Never really had any big problems but in a few weeks a big patch is coming out so you might want to start playing again after.

sadly it hasn't gotten any better. Its been out for 6 months or so and the game is still a mess. what are these people doing???
Thats right, there busy making DLC so they can squeeze more money out of us! unbelievable. all resources should have gone in to fixing the problems straight after it was released before they started DLC.
Im on PS3 and my game freezes every half an hour.

Isn't Bethesda coming out with Patch soon? My New Vegas is glitch free. There was some when I first got it but they are gone now.

A DLC has come out Dead Money an another one will come out when the patch comes out, Honest Hearts.

IIRC we don't even get a patch until OA with FO3, and then another one when they release GOTY edition.

New Vegas still has it's problems with Glitches and I don't think the patches will be able to completely get rid of them because of Gamebryo. Now besides that New Vegas is a great game, I prefer Fallout 3 more but that's just my opinion as both games are pretty much equal. I do think that New Vegas is missing some things as I find that after getting everything that there isn't anything to do but the DLC's will hopefully change that.

Maybe wait until the next patch. The game is definitely worth playing. You'll find many more interesting things outside the Strip, and I recommend some hardcoe quest hunting.

The more you play it the more you appreciate it. That said, I'm still waiting for the patch before I get back into playing it.

TH point is your saying the patches have not come out fast enough but they where no better with FO3. So why expect them to be all that faster?

AH!.........OUT SOON! That makes me feel so much better lol When is soon???? They have been saying that for weeks.
I bought this game and have to wait over 6 months before its playable?
Im not holding my breath on this patch even fixing the freezing problems. They should have fixed the problems before making any DLC! Fixing the problems should have been they're priority

Within a week or two from what I have read.I too bought the game on release and have enjoyed a little over 100 hours of gameplay. Some people have problems some don't.Apparently its still playable by a lot of people's standards.

Actually Miller, NV already have more bug fixing patch then FO3 at this point, since there is two patches before Dead Money and the one with Dead Money; unlike FO3's patch with DLC only contain achievement......

With the exception of the Pit, I've seen less bugs in FO3 than FONV. I have at least two to three friends who also will admit they have very little issues with FO3.

NV is another story. I've had 2 character corruptions and one that resulted in the loss of my Very Hard run. I've had at least four to five mission glitches, and well over the allotted amount of re-saves. I keep running into hollow skin floating heads (also in FO3) a little more frequently, and Energy Weapons are still meager compared to several Solid ammunition firearms. Melee in both games is still too easy so I'm not going to bother bringing anything else about it.

I'm also noting at least one freeze per week or two, somewhat similar to FO3. Death Claw Promontory also used to crash on me, so before the last patch and DLC I had to clear my cache and play on Default settings. Which by the way, the Alien Blaster is amazing, which isn't the case anymore. The new patch made Most plasma weapons non-versatile, made the spread too wild with the slow velocity.

Just the things off the top of my head, I'm sure if I sat for an hour with friends we could come up with a longer list of complaints and issues.

Well, on my old (but arguably better) PC FO3 crash like jeep driving straight into a horde of rhinos; I constantly crash after a loading screen which leds me to make 20 saves for each character and save before every door. The Pitt is worst of all, because of the shear amount of doors in that place.

NV was better on the fly, admittedly it does crash, but after the 1st patch (IIRC release in the first week) the game is more stable than FO3 with the GOTY patch.

Most of the bugs in NV which people complain about present at FO3; and they seems to forget all those game killing bugs in the FO3 MQ, which can still happen with the GOTY edition.

It doesn't matter how many patches have come out or how quickly FO3 got patched! NV is still unstable to lots of people 6 months after release.
Saying 'Oh.....fallout 3 was worse is' is pathetic.
If you think its OK to still be TRYING to fix the bugs and freezing after 6 months on the shelf then its no wonder games come out in this state with people like you around!
I rest my case
