Has the gaming community grown up a little?

Post » Sat Mar 14, 2009 5:23 am

I've been playing for quite a while now, the past few days just running a melee class with not a single shot fired in at least 20 games or so. I'm averaging about a 15+ positive spread per game, if I did that in MW with a tac knife or something, I'd probably average 2/3 rage messages per game, yet in Crysis, i have yet to receive any hate mail. No s**t talking in the lobby or during game. People camp, nobody b****es. It's pretty refreshing to not have some kid sending me a message about how much fun he had with my mom as a result of me beating him. Anybody else noticed the lack of people blaring terrible music, screaming incoherently into the mic for no reason, and sending pointless rage messages post game? Have we grown up a bit?

I would have to disagree on the account of trash talking, in went 37-5 on CTR and got called a "hacker *bleep* *bleep bleep*" in the lobby.

Silly people who can't move their thumbs in sync with their T.V. :P

I think, for the most part, the Crysis 2 community that is left is a little more mature than the average game. Most of the "kids" stayed with BLOPS or Halo. Granted it's been nearly or over a week now and still no word I've read about this patch to fix some of the more glaring issues...

I find myself growing irritated with the game's hosting issues the more I play.

Yeah I'm pretty happy with no whiners anymore. But like B3AST put it I wish people would try to be more tactical and communicate with their team.

I run a melee class too and regularly have a +15 spread as well, and am quite surprised that not only do I not get any hate, but people will stay in the lobby, despite being on the losing team 5 times in a row (as unless I have a TERRIBLE team, a 15 spread is difficult for any team to win against)

That would never happen in Black Ops (and I actually enjoy Black Ops, so that's not me being a hater or fanboy), although I have had a few hate messages here, pretty much all accusing me of hacking, which is a little stupid, but none decrying melee as not being legitimate.

I find this happens less and less in any game now. Cross game party chat means most people can (and would rather) chat with buddies rather than randoms in game unless it's absolutely nessecary. Even when my friends are actually in my game, I still party up as we end up talking about non-game stuff too, and I don't want people listening in, and not just that, I'm sure they don't want to have to listen to us either.

Pretty much the only time i'd go into game chat these days is if none of my friends were online (rare, as I usually don't play in that case as I find it boring without being able to chat) or if it's a mode like Assault where it can influence the outcome of the game to a large degree, but even then, I don't really care about winning or losing, just having a good time, so often don't.

crysis 2 also falls under the most quiet multioplayer game to date. only time someone talks is when the worst player on the team is swearing at his team for making him do **** :P

I think it's simply because the game isn't mainstream, yet. If the game blows up like CoD did, all of the mouthy little kids will be playing in no time. I can remember when CoD2 and CoD3 were quieter than this game.
