Has the whole world been Nuked?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:54 am

I'm just wondering, has the whole world of fallout been nuked, or just USA? :read:

Also, does anyone know where Tabor(pointlookout boat guy) is? he doesn't show up when i go to the boat, i've looked around the internet, and apprently, he'll be wondering around the wasteland, because i skipped some diolauge, rather annoyed that i'm going to have to use a new player to get the acheviments.

its believed that all of the world is destroyed because most nations just sent nukes and other assorted ordinance going everywhere but countries like china and japan and eveywhere else might have recovered or been destroyed worse than america so who knows so

these should help http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/The_Great_War http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/China

because the other countries don't matter really the locations don't matter its about the stories about seeing the world struggle to survive and rebuild

That would actually be non-nuked. Un-nuked would mean it was nuked, but now it isn't anymore.

Two possible answers. Both are 100% correct, but depend on how the question is interpreted:

1: By Literal interpretation of the question (That Nuked just refers to the use of Nuclear weapons), then we know that both China and the North American Continent are scared by Atomic weapons. Europe and the Middle east, by way of a known war between them are likely to also have had weapons used against them. Anything else is speculation (never mind the occasional bit of poetic hyperbole used about contients sinking in the intro movies)

2: By a more open interpretation (That Nuked just means wrecked, civilisation as it was fallen), then the answer is no. If it wasn't hit by nukes, then the weather effects, fall of international trade and order, exhaustion of resources, etc. has effectively made any nation as you know it fall. The only areas where sociery likely to be in a similar state as to before the war are purely isolated communities that have absolutely no contact with the rest of the world and are completely isolated eg "Lost tribes" in places like the Amazon and other deep wilderness areas; These groups are still likely to have been effected by environmental effects, and may have seen some major shakeups in local belief structures (if WW2 armies can result in "Cargo Cults", then I can only imagine what a manefestation from a fire god (Nuke) would have).

Everytime this is brought up, it always reminds me of the http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e223/Les_Punk/Game/FO2EnclaveRigMap3.jpg on the Poseidon Oil Rig. You can see 2 dots in the areas that we know have an enclave base (The one in California, and another by DC). What the rest of the dots mean is entirely up to speculation.

Fallout Bible by http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Chris_Avellone states that in:

2077: At some point, one of the nuclear powers began launching nuclear weapons, which resulted in a massive retaliatory response that culminated in the nuclear annihilation of the Great War on October 23, 2077. All nation-states effectively ceased to exist following the holocaust.

Fallout one intro says "storm of world war had come again" which means it was not a war between China and America alone. Every nation was involved.

That doesn't follow... Not every nation was involved in World War 1 or 2.

Most neutral nations during both world wars were neutral only on paper. Some south american nations joined right at end of the wars (waited to see who was winning). Some nations played bothsides.

Every nation would be a target. In 2077 the EU was no more and I doubt the neutral card would save you. Chris Avellone and both FO1 and FO2 intros clearly say the world (as it was in 2077) is no more. Every nation on earth gone.

I don't understand why people don't get this. The whole world was nuked. It's not like the scene in 28 days later where the people left in Britain think the whole world is effected only to look up and see airplanes flying around. The "Great War" of 2077 was a world war. No one wins no one stays nice and safe thanks to their neutrality.

I dont thin k that it would matter if one part of the country let alone several parts of the world were nuked with atomic bomb. the radiation and [censored] would travel in the highs and low pressure of winds and be carried to further locations........to all around the world filling the atmosphere. Therefore killing everything in the atmosphere such as plants, animals, and growth of modern life on earth........plus contamination to EVERYTHING!

Just the US.....the world ganged up to take out the "Great Satan" with a massive first strike. Then they built a big dome over the US and began the largest Reality Series ever, "The Fallout World".

Whole world got done blowed up! If someone hadn't, after two centuries they'd've tried to make contact or at least travel there.

Yeah, you and and what army, you little heathen, foreign child? When we find you, we will sacrifice your soul to the dark lords of the underworld and we will FEAST!!! :shocking: :shocking: :chaos:  :nuke: :obliviongate: :obliviongate: Too bad The Doctor couldn't stop the events before Fallout 1.

Um... *ahem* I was joking. Just joking.

Yeah, the whole world was nuked, OP. The Fallout Wiki and the intros of FO 1 and/or 2 said as much. We pretty muched made the world FUBAR.

The worst parts of the great war only took place between the US and China. However, there were limited nuclear exchanges between the Middle East and the European Commonwealth before that. But even if parts of the world was not directly hit, they will still in a very bad shape due to the massive amount of radiation and the collapse of civil order.

Well, probably the whole world yeah. I can recommend the last scene of the movie war games. In the last minute or two, every possible scenario passes by, and no matter how you turn it. the world is screwed.

I figure that wouldn't be so different in Fallout.

Yes, the whole world was divided into the U.S. Commonwealths, the People's Greater Republics of China, The Bickering Nation States of Europe, the OPEC Caliphate of the Middle East, the USSR (If it wasn't annexed by China), and all the 2nd and 3rd World nations exploited and annexed by all the above. I feel Anarctica would've been the only place without nuke craters on October 22nd, 2077.

Yes, especially if The Enclave or The Calculator were the ultimate Dead Hand system and wanted everything destroyed. Look up Perimeter/Dead Hand and fear for the world, for it's all too real, and still hooked up.
