Has there EVER been a game better than FO3?

Has there EVER been a game this good?

I KNOW it won EVERY stinking GotY and every other side award a game could be given except GameSpot who decided to give GotY to to some Sony exclusive.

I just played thru for a 3rd time making my time in the DC wasteland about 500 hours.

Never has a game captured my imagination... and my SOUL like FO3. GameSpy gave it the BEST #1 game for Xbox so far.

I will admit for those not lucky enough to have an Xbox FO3 may not have been quite as flawless, but seriously that is due to the multitude of PC configurations and the limitations of the PS3. Plus PC gamers get all the incredible MODs us Xbox gamers don't so that got to make up for a few little glitches.

Honestly, I wish I wasn't so lazy as I have a GREAT gaming rig... but it's at my hard cold glass desk with my little 20" monitor.

My Xbox with the big Sony HDTV on a BIG memory foam bed with lots of pllows surrounded by my precious kittens (who are hard-core Halo fans). For obvious reasons it wins every time for gaming.

I'm Looking forward to Skyrim with some OBVIOUS resrvations after the bug-fest that is FO:NV, but I'd sell my soul for a PURE gamesas FO4!!!!

Please tell if you honestly think there is a game better than FO3 ..... and please note after my disappointment with FO:NV I surprised myself and cast ALL of my GotY votes for Reach ... I KNOW this is a minority opinion but I actually even like Reach better than ME2 which should have been a mortal-lock for EVERY GotY after the epic FAIL of FO:NV.

P.S. Any opinions on the upcoming Deusix????

The only games I've played which I enjoyed more than FO3 so far have been Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri and Heroes of Might and Magic III, both of which have been near and dear to my heart for over eight years.

Something about the world design of FO3 just svcked me in, in a manner which few, if any, other games have been able to replicate.

And hey, don't feel bad for us PC users, FO3 only reaches its full potential with mods. :P

Ah thanx mucho for your quick reply, but honestly were you as involved in Sid Miers creations as FO3?

I mean the the music the FO3 soundtrack is on it's own amazing but the Billy Hoilday and other songs on the radio are SO dang immerisve. And one of the things that always bothered me in the critics and fan complaints of FO3 was the graphics. OMG don't you people get it?

It ain't supposed to be pretty-- it is supposed to be GRITTY and they are supposed to look like that!!! I think the artwork and graphics in FO3 should be what every game dev aspires to.

The artwork, graphics and depiction of the Wasteland is what stole my soul ... OK yeah and some REALLY great story-telling ( I LOVED the original ending) and huge open-world to do what you want with it.

The FO3 Wasteland represents THE best art direction in a single-player game... LotRO wins for MMO :-)

I let the statistics speak for themselves - I have never played a game so much as I have played Fallout 3.

Not to mention modding. The extremely open setting of this game leaves PC users an incredible lot to add and meddle with.
The only thing I always disliked in this game is how the open story becomes incredibly linear towards the end, when you are forced to join the good guys. But then again, there's modding.

Yes FO3 is a very good game

To me awards don't mean much I'll play a game if has a thousand awards or none at all in the end if I enjoy it, that's all that matters, as they say 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'

So to the question at hand

is it the greatest game i've ever played... no

That spot is reserved for S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernobyl

To the OP: I played Fallout 3 once through without mods and liked it. I want to reinstall it and play with mods. But you are so excited with Fallout 3 that it must be sarcasm. You can't possibly love it THAT much, can you? To be honest, Fallout 3 was better than both FO1 and FO2 together. Bethesda needs to put Skyrim aside, fire Obsidian, and get to work on FO4. For now, I can use the White Label FO 1 & 2 cd's as dustpans and urinate on them when I'm done. I will answer your question, but it has nothing to do with the wasteland.

You like the impression that Fallout 3 granted you on your first playthrough. If this is true then you might like / have liked F.E.A.R. Short game, not an rpg, but wins critical points for the experience, story, and combat.

Okay, gloves are off - Half Life 2: E 1 & 2 and Portal counted as one game is far more entertaining than unmodded FO3. Did I mention that FO 1 & 2 cd's are nice decorations for the litter box?

Fallout 2 beats the [censored] out of Fallout 3. I honestly don't get all the damned hype over F3.

FO3 is a great game. But there are others as good or better: eg Morrowind, Oblivion

More lore, larger and more diverse world, more ways to build a character (eg with magic or alchemy), more quests, etc.

But if you mean a post apocalyptic game, I can't think of a better one than FO3.

Meh, I've played both and I enjoyed FO3 a lot more for the sense of immersion it gives. FO2 was a great game, but I liked FO3 better. To each his own.

Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout: New Vegas, The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall, the Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic...

As you can see, awards mean little to me. I can pay a critic to say my game is perfect...

Edit: Fixed something.

I can name four games better then Fallout 3 when it comes to being a Fallout game.

1st: Fallout

2nd: Fallout 2

3rd: New Vegas

4th: Fallout Tactics.

I agree Fallout 3 is a great game. I wasted countless hours playing it. Summer of 2009 was for me was work then Fallout 3. I bought every DLC as it came out. I created a new character everytime and played the game and did everthing there was to do including the DLC. Next DLC came out I did the same thing for all the DLC, even Mothership Zeta. I played the Hello out of it. I started to convince myself it was better then nothing. I ignored the plot holes and how T-for Teen it felt. Then New Vegas and all I could think about was "Why the Hell couldn't Fallout 3 be like this!"

I totally agree, I played FO3, and i was blown away! Heck, i was crying at the ending it was that good, IT was truly a deep and enjoyable game, and it is my favorite of the series so far. I still wish there could be more to it, but every good thing has to come to an end, i would have loved leading a BOS raid on Vault 87, or leading some water caravans to some difficult areas that were plagued with trouble. But alas, i was just glad to have played a wonderful game like FO3. :fallout:

FO3 is a really fantastic game. But Oblivion is hands-down better.

And I felt more immersed in Fallout 2. The game continues to amaze me after 6 years of playing it. Each to his own

I agree, and those are just RPGs. I can name a ton of games out there that are better than Fallout 3. Battlefield 2, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 (my favorite shooter to date), Super Metroid, Metroid Prime 1, 2, and 3, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, etc. Rewards are so trivial and pointless, and are nothing but ways to drivvle up hype for a game.

FO3 is a really fantastic game. But Oblivion is hands-down better.

Now, heavily modded Oblivion is probably better than heavily modded FO3, largely due to FCOM and some very cleaver monkey magic, but Oblivion has two major flaws in it's level scalling and levelling system which really seem to detriment it's playability. An annoying levelling system is not a good idea. It's a blummin good game tho, don't get me wrong I've played it for 4 years untill FO3 Goty arrived from Santa

Some of the lessons of Oblivion really seem to have been learnt with fallout 3 tho, and it shows. NPCs seem cleverer, the economic system are better (ie money changes as you buy/sell), everythings viewable when distant. And I really like the random encounters too just to spice things up a little.

A Beth made FO4 will be awesome, but we'll just have to put up with Skyrim for a few years first

Yes. A few actually. They're called Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout: New Vegas (the proper Fallout 3).

This.

Really there are many many games better then FO3, though admittedly "better" is completely subjective.

Also awards dont mean a thing IMO.
