I hate random dragon attacks killing Npc's

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 5:17 am

I get it i know there should be random attack it makes sence but when it kills npc's it takes alittle chunk out of the game and first ones like w/e but it keeps happening and happening it really gets noticable after awhile.....Like Eurland Gray-Mane(skyforge blacksmith)died on me when i dragon hit whiterun.Thats unbelieveably annoying...i cant get the best training nor can i get skyforge steel or wolf armor. Why dont they make it if s Npc dies another one takes its place.....just an idea may not be the best but theres got to be a better system seriously its very very annoying.

It be nice of regular folk, merchants and what-not went inside the nearest building when a dragon attacked.

Sometimes other NPC's do take the place of those that die... The Grey-mane character however isn't somebody that is easily replaced. More importantly are you using non essential mods or something, because IIRC he is essential for me.

Anyway, it happens people die when dragons attack and not everybody can be easily replaced. Just adds realism for me.

Only milkdrinkers would run inside. A true Nord never backs down.

NPC's take over in some situations, but Eorland Gray-Mane is not replaceable. Just watch your fast travel as they tend to spawn afterwards. It might even be worthwhile fast travelling to next nearest location and walking from there.

Indeed! The alchemist for dawnstar is dead for me now, her body by a rock a monument to my inefficiency to kill the first ancient dragon I saw. All non guard NPCs should run to the nearest building, like any SANE person would :P

that's what should happen in an open world game

it would be nice if people die also when you are not around, like you go back to riften after a while and find out that a dragon attacked and killed some people

That would svck because you could miss out on quests and there would be nothing you could do about it. When a dragon attacks a town the first thing I do is save, so that if anyone important dies I can reload and try again.

He's essential until a certain point in the companions quest line.

The loss of skyforged steel is tragic but, put paying for smithing training is a complete waste of gold. Buying iron ore and leather strips to make daggers is cheaper.

I also don't understand when non-essential people don't go inside the nearest building. Unless you can actually help kill the dragon, get the **** out of the way!

It would add realism, but I'm not a great fan of that. Unless it would be unnamed generic NPC's, otherwise it might destroy things without an ability to stop it. I know more realistic but it also kinda svcks.

This does make me feel better about hoarding 5 or 6 skyforge greatswords. I guess it's time to grab the whole set then. I wonder who lights the realfun pile.. Tells you about nord hero..

I hate when named npcs die. Skyrim feels empty enough. If I encounter any dead npcs that have been killed in some mishap I resurrect them with the console. I would love a mod that caused endangered named nps to run inside the nearest door or to make all vendors, at least, essential. Or have respawning generic "Vendors". Or something.

The game already has to many essential NPC's, if I want to kill a shopkeeper then by god I'm going to kill a shopkeeper.

The world of Skyrim is a dangerous place. I almost shed a tear when Alvor died on me, it was like losing an uncle.

Still, it would be nice if they ran indoors instead of putting their hands over their head and crouch down in dragon fire.

You try thinking straight when you're on fire.... Stop, drop and roll isn't as easy to remember as it sounds.

so?
most of people complaints are about the fact that you can be chief of all guilds and accomplish everything with one char, that would've toned down this a little, if a NPC dies, no quests from him, plain and simple.
unless you want a rail-roaded open world game, sounds weird enough...

You would have far more complaints about that, people would lose an NPC they need to finish a specific quest and then would complain about it not happening, especially if Bethesda does not figure out a way to replace those quests or make them irrelevant. It's probably the reason why so many NPC's are essential.
