You have to change clips so many times...in the meantime, the enemy is shooting you up.

SMGs are best used in very close quarters, like vaults and metro stations. It's great for raiders and ghouls, things you can kill in one short burst.

If you find yourself keep having to reload to kill one target, then maybe another weapon is more suitable for that situation.

SMGs are amazing in tight quarters. I can line up 6 shots in VATS on multiple enemies. And when you get the unique version, it's all buttah.

The 10 mm Smg is awesome. Plentiful ammo, fast fire rate and a good dps. I use mainly for a hallway clearer. A lot of people prefer the combat shotty for that, but I understand the power of having that extra range. I'll keep the shotty for small rooms and ghouls.

I didn't like the fact there's only one type of SMG. Although, SMGs in reality aren't widely used....which seems to also be true in the Fallout universe. They're good at early levels and in close quarters, but once I got the Chinese assault rifle I pretty much abandoned my SMG.

I never had much use for SMGs either. It's not that they're bad weapons- I just don't like them. I always used Combat Shotguns, specifically the Terrible Shotgun, for getting up close and personal.

I agree with you Cory about the SMG. I love them. The vanilla one is great. Although my favorite use for the SMG is ghouls (ghouls; not Reavers), unless I'm using something like a lead pipe.

And, Sydney's SMG is good throughout the game as it's DMG is very high.

I like to pair LR with the SMG. LR + Sydney's SMG is especially great. ( with added bonus if I had to do something terrible to Sydney to get it  )

(exactly, until i can get my hands on a good supply of energy weapons, i depend on SMG's early, before i get to combat shotguns, and they tear the [censored] out of weaker ghouls as stated, or vicious dogs, like in the central station with that pack.)

Err, why are you standing out in the open while reloading then?

Where do you reliably get SMGs before combat shotguns? You can get a combat shotgun from Flak and Shrapnel as soon as you can get to RC (Level 2).

At least one of the Raiders in the Super Duper Mart usually has one too.

(if not, usually a combat shotgun, but it depends on randomness.)

Ya, it is random. I just checked the wiki and there is only one location listed on the map that has any there.

I'll take the SMG as a sidearm over the 10mm any day. :gun:
