On the bright side, it's not completely covered in snow. Also, I think the Reach has some of the most beautiful views in the game.
I understand your frustration, though. Many times I've found myself thwarted trying to navigate around some of those mountains and valleys.
I feel the exact same way about that region. Rarely go there or to its wretched cesspit of a capital that they call Markarth.
I hate it mostly because of the Forsworn. Theres just nothing to do there besides Forsworn!
Frustrating to Navigate? Can't say I agree. I don't find it frustrating at all. Not really sure what problems you're referring to, to be honest. It's not too often that I find myself in the reach, but I go there enough to say that I can only think of 1 time that I had to go KIND OF out of my way to get somewhere, and that was hiking around a mountain to get a piece of Mehrune's Razor.
Though I agree with the opinion about Markarth. Probably the only city I don't visit unless a quest requires it. I'm sure there are quests in there I haven't done(I've only done the Forsworn & Daedric quests so far), but it's such a dull place that I all but forget about it.
I tend to agree. This problem is exponentially worse with a follower. Solo, I can find fun in trying to get around those obstacles
Yea, Markarth is my least favorite "big city." You're smacked with an event and subsequent quest the moment you step foot in there. I can not go right from the gate, unless I want to be forced into a Daedric Quest.
I usedto feel the same way, but made a Forsworn character recently since i've spent so very little time there and really warmed up to the zone, really like the dungeons there that are connected to each other.
All of those mountains are nice, I can almost feel the crisp air when I travel there. My favourite is still as far north as possible, in the snowiest parts, in a massive blizzard.
I agree about Markarth, now that I think of it. Don't really know why, being a city built over dwemer ruins sounds cool.
Maybe because it feels a bit cramped, and for some reason more confusing than the dungeons in the game. Can't really put my finger on it. Maybe it would have been better if it was larger.
Reach is one of the more beautiful places, but it's not very pleasant to travel through because of the obstacles and forsworn.
My elf travels everywhere by horse. . . so cliffs, mountains and difficult terrain are no problem. Of course not everyone is cut out for horse travel.
In the beginning The Reach was my least favorite region too. But after I started out one of my characters as a Forsworn, using an alternate start mod, I began to appreciate the rugged grandeur of the region.
The Reach never bothered me, but Markath did, and still does. How I loathe that infernal city. If I could, I'd burn it to the ground and forbid anyone from ever building on that ground ever again. Punishment for violating this law is the pain of death. Publicly drawn, hanged, and quartered.
My least favorite part is far up north where all the snow is.
Falkreath has to be my favorite followed by The Rift.
I agree that there are some sweet dungeons there. Bard's Leap Redoubt is my fav
I agree with you, it is hard to manouver, it's also a pretty cool region though, because of the nature. Sure it is more of a challenge and frustrating and such, but it can make finding places feel more rewarding. Markarth of course is a living hell and there is no excuse, God I hate that city. Well the design and general idea is cool enough, but it's so much walking and getting lost.
It's beautiful, like an interactive Albert Bierstadt painting, but I tend to travel solo through there because the rugged terrain trips up my followers, especially since I prefer off-road travel.
Get a blink spell from a mod. Suddenly you'll love the Reach.
I don't hate the reach, but it's a hold I rarely spend much time in. Definitely hard to get around. I remember almost going nuts trying to find a couple of the towns, including Rorikstead.
Agreed.
I do like the reach itself, but its a pain to travel. Markarth is my least favorite of the cities. It's location is *bleh* and its uninteresting to navigate. The only possible bonus is its temple to Dibella and that it has a dungeon attached to its throne room... but I'm not that big a fan of the dwemer ruins. I usually avoid the zone if at all possible.
I really like the forsworn. They're always fun to come across.
