I Hate the Dwemer

Post » Sun Aug 19, 2012 3:15 pm

I don't know about anyone else, but I HATE the Dwemer and everything to do with them.

Tamriel is a wonderful fantasy world, and I love it. But I cannot stand quests having to do with some Dwarven ruins or something.

It just doesn't fit. And yes, I know that's intended and all. They're all 'Techonlogical' while everyone else isn't, I get it.

Anyone feel this way?

No. I don't feel that way. I find them both mysterious and fascinating. What is it specifically you hate about them?

I'm not a huge fan of the Dwemer either. I liked the mystery, but now that it's solved I'm just not interested in them. Dwemer ruins were my least favorite dungeon type in Morrowind, and they're my least favorite in Skyrim.

I hate the Dwemer as a race but like dwemer content in the games. Altough Skyrim surely had enough.

I like the mystery and stigma surrounding the Dwemer, but their machines and ruins certainly do feel out of place in-game.

I like the Dwemer. The feats they've accomplished with their magic are astounding. Tamriel is truly a poorer place with them gone.

What makes the Dwemer so interesting is that, even though they are a stark contrast to the rest of Tamriel, they aren't out of place at all. Everything they do (except possibly the Aetherium Forge) has an in-universe explanation that sometimes bends our understanding of how Mundus operates, but always remains within the limits that the writers have placed upon the world.

I feel the same. After hearing all this stuff about the dwemer, and having to go into their ruins, (Which all look the same). Yes I get it the dwarves are "mysterious", stop trying to tantalize us with it.

I think they are alright. I may have liked them slightly more in Morrowind, but I still find them okay in Skyrim.

Its technomancy not technology.

If you had said you hated the Dwemer for what they stood for or for the things they did, that might have been a more interesting discussion.

Yes, I think they are lame, in my opinion. Sort of boring. I do like how they enslaved the Snow Elves, that was pretty awesome. But other than that, I hate them as well. Never struck me as interesting.

I like the Dwemer. Very cool for Bethesda to take a cliche and make it interesting. I also disapprove of the way "hate" gets thrown around these days, it has lost much of its meaning.

If you don't know Love, we're all doomed when Landfall comes around.

At least Skyrim Dwemer actually have an appreciation for aesthetics. Art deco > banana yellow hallways.

The Dwemer have been, and likely always will be, my favorite part of Elder Scrolls lore.

If you think it doesn't fit with the rest of Tamriel, then I think you're looking at either the Dwemer or Tamriel or both wrong.

'I saw a mudcrab today' Cyrodiil doesn't fit Tamriel. Deep-folk are arguably the most savvy of the lot.

pfft, the Dwemer are an awesome folk, and there's just too much about them never elaborated on. all we know are tales, rumors and their apparent blasphemy. but next to nothing as they as a people/persons, how their society worked etc etc....you know things relevant before they went and "disappeared" into an epidermis

In agreement with Haute. There are a few things out of place in the world of Nirn, but the Dwemer are not among them. You can dislike them till you're blue in the face, but saying they don't fit in is kinda...out there. In comparison to everything else.

I love the Dwemer... Imagine really being on Nirn and encountering Dwemer ruins, to me it's kind of similar to our ancient lost civilizations like "how did they build those crazy pyramids?!"

The Dwemer are interesting I admit but I'm sick of having to deal with their ruins.

I like the Dwemer. They have or had a unique culture. The technological stuff has been in the games since the lore became more there in Daggerfall. In fact, Daggerfall's main plot was about Dwemer. You can hate them, but they are still an important part of the lore. If you feel they are out of place, fine. I feel they aren't. Especially considering some of the crazy technological magic stuff that is already in the lore.
