I hate when people ask "What's Skyrim?"

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 8:09 pm

I find this to be such a difficult question to answer to people who have never played any TES games...

What is your guy's approach to explaining what it is?

I haven't had anyone ask this question because everyone I know is a gamer and has the game or will have the game soon.

Really, if someone asked me "What is Skyrim?" my response would be a punch in their face.

It's a province of Tamriel ( continent of ES games ) , like Morrowind.Different races come from different provinces , and Skyrim is Nords' area.

You seem to always have only 2 sentences to say. That and "oblivion is [censored] morrowindftw"... Could you please go somewhere else? Or make some better attempts to annoy people(or not that seems to be working because im complaining about it..)

Just say that its a big sandbox game where you play as some dragonborn dude who kills dragons and [censored].

I always start off by saying "It's a huge game and you can do virtually do anything you want"

And they always go "Ohhh! I get it. So it's like Grand Theft Auto!!!"

Minecraft but with prettier graphics... J/K don't shoot me!

Open ended Single Player RPG with a sandbox mode on steroids. If they don't understand any of that lingo, just walk away slowly.

It depends on the person, if I think that the person will appreciate a pretty good RPG game, I will describe it as a open-world game with a ton of things to do with a pretty decent story. However, if I think that they're the type that is more focused on games like GoW and CoD, I'll describe it as Modern Warfare with epic dragons and the ability to decapitate people as well as a variety of finishing moves.

Both ways seem to interest the person.

The game all of the cool kids are playing.

And the not cool ones too.

Actually just about everybody, if you don't know what it is you are kind of failing at something very important, or at least video games.

I few weeks ago my friend asked me if I was getting the new CoD game. I told him Battlefield 3 looked better and I would probably get that instead. He asked me what Battlefield was.... And that was the day I learned all of my friends who talked about video games only played CoD, so I don't even try to explain to them what Skyrim is.
