PC to have aim support???

Post » Thu Jan 06, 2011 6:23 pm

Finally read this article: http://pc.ign.com/articles/114/1140767p1.html

Seeing as though PC users don't need aim support I'm hoping there's an option to turn it off. Btw this is speaking of Single player not MP.

No, because aim assist is just weird with a mouse. But the controller when used on PC has got aim assist.

Gotcha. That makes sense. I've never used my 360 controller with my PC...that's just weird.

i've used it occasionally on crysis :) Can't shoot much to be honest, which is why they added aim assist this time around.

this is disgusting, another piece of evidence of catering to console gamers. I also like the part where the guy says it will be easier to change modes in console than on PC...in the controls can be hotkeyed to the middle mouse button then it still wont be faster than the mouse.

also if this is in mutliplayer, it will ruin it. i don't care if it's to "Help" the 360 controller users...it shouldnt be in multiplayer..they can play with a mouse and keyboard like everyone else if they choose to give themselves a disadvantage by using a 360 controller then they shouldnt get autoaim for it

Its not in multiplayer and I have no clue why you are complaining. Some people like to play with a controller on their PC. Its just a feature. Calm down. Not everyone likes to do things the same as you.

IIRC, Crysis had the ability to allow/disallow controllers from the server end. This is to ensure any balance issues are taken care of. I'd dare say this would also be available in Crysis 2 MP.

As for your opening sentence, yes, Crytek are catering to console gamers, that's evidenced by the fact the game is being released on console as well as PC. The ability to use a controller with snap-to aim does not indicate in any way shape or form that the game is a console 'port'. It's an additional option. If mouse aiming had snap-to that couldn't be disabled, then i'd happily admit that would be a sign of a console port.

I was also aided by significantly improved game-pad support in Crysis 2. I was playing the PC version of the game with a wired 360 controller, and aside from the raw visual splendor on the screen - and seriously, I'm not one to to fellate the original Crysis's graphics, since I found them a little boring, but DAMN is Crysis 2 looking amazing on PC - it played very smoothly. Crytek has thrown in some snap-to targeting on the left trigger and a bit of aim assist to boot, and configurations are customizable, a major change from the last game. Switching between powers might actually be easier on the 360 pad than on the PC; pulling off manuevers like taking aim, quickly uncloaking and firing, then cloaking again are pulled off quickly using the bumper to phase in and out.

Actually, one thing that I realized reading that article is that Crysis 2 has enemies that better rival the nanosuit. In the original Crysis, I was like superman, beating thousands of Koreans to a pulp with ease. Although there were other enemies that could better challenge me, they were rarer encounters. In Crysis 2, the enemies seem better suited to actually fight me. So I can definitely see one department where Crysis 2 is improved over the original.

Excellent reply Cry-Adam. I still have my fears however, that most servers won't notice the option if there is even one. I'm hoping official servers will have it off, or at least have the snap off and controllers allowed.

Why are you worrying kourgero? If someone wants to play with a controller online all that'll happen is that they'll die a horrible, horrible death.

Yeah I agree. They'll just get owned. One thing I bought today was an adapter for my 360 to play keyboard and mouse on the beta and make youtube videos of how I will own, never to have played the original Crysis 2 beta. Part of me doesn't want to play on console because I'm a PC gamer but its to show people "first time player with keyboard beats console controller any day."

I just hope they release more info on the PC/PS3 side of the wall. Getting a little worried.

Halo had aim-assist (almost auto-aim) on PC even in Multiplayer, and some people found ways to exploit it using kb&m...so better don't include it in the code for multiplayer.

PD: I hate console FPS because I can't stand aim-assist, don't like the idea of someone getting advantage because the system helps them (or myself)...

PD2: Can you (Cry Adam or someone else) confirm aim-assist on PC in multiplayer mode?

Be sure that the number of people using a controller is small, very small. Besides, so what if you play against someone with a controller, what the big deal.

PS: I know someone with a dissabilty that makes using a mouse a terrible chore, hes using an Xbox controller so he wont suffer from pain while playing.
