After getting entrenched in Vikings on Amazon Prime I started wondering why not a single Jarl in Skyrim has a wife (or husband)... kind of odd isn’t it? Would have been a cool RP option if Jarls could have been marry-able too...

Some have Children. Some have married, and told us about the death of their, lover.
For example, I think one of the replacement Jarls has a husband.
Jarl elisif was origianolly to be marryable, guess that option was cut.
The Jarl fo Morthal, Idgrod, has both a living husband(her steward) and two children. Balgruuf has children, so does Laila Law-Giver. And the Jarl of Winterhold.
I think it is strange Ulfric Stormcloak doesn't have heirs though, since he must be at least in his late forties by now. Same with Skald the Elder and Igmund.
Marrying a Jarl would be great since it would open up your character to nobility, and I think that by the time the dragonborn is really high level he should be able to have some holdings of his own. Ive Not so much properities like Hearthfire, more mines and farms, various assets like that.
Balgruuf has children. Its a shame either their mothers are all tavern wenches or... their mother died as there is no mention of her. His children might have been better behaved otherwise. I had a chuckle when I passed his daughter after being handed back Ulfric's axe (I was stormcloak supporting) "I was suppose to get a new dress but now because of this stupid war it will never come from Solitude." or something to that effect.
Don't worry my dear... you'll be relocating to Solitude soon enough and then you can get that stupid dress.
There are mods to marry Ulfric, but I am surprised none of the other jarls other then Balgruuf even have families. I'm sure even Ulfric has some bastard children out there.
