Have any PC fans changed their minds about platform?

Post » Thu Oct 13, 2011 4:48 am

So I've learned something new about the PC version of Skyrim. I've seen the kind of forum users and mods at odds tinfoil hat conspiracy downward spiralling that can happen in a forum when it is believed things are being intentionally hidden or obscured before. I don't want that kind of thing to happen as I firmly believe it cannot help anybody.

I know the rules, I know enough to understand what NOT to say, and I still wasn't certain if it could be done in a way that will not break any rules and/or not degenerate into an arguement. But if only to dispel the tinfoil hat theories, I decided it can be done with a simple ground rule.

OK, most important paragraph, this is the rule, if you wish to post here at all, under no circumstances whatsoever are you to post a reason for your decision. This would run the risk of turning an otherwise "were you all set to get Skyrim on PC and have since changed your mind" poll thread into a discussion about something that might belong elsewhere. Absent this, I believe it is impossible to declare it not belonging in the Skyrim general discussion forum. That means no speculation by any posters who haven't changed their minds.

So the title almost says it all. Have you at first looked forward to Skyrim on the PC and since changed your mind? Whether it was to go instead with the XBox 360 version, the Playstation 3 version, or not buying Skyrim at all if not on PC. Or have you not changed your minds. I wanted some change to pre-orders comparison information.

Because I believe it serves a purpose and can only do so here, in THIS forum by not bringing why into it, I will report any posts I see that state a reason immediately to the mods myself to be removed from this thread. Their doing so instead of locking or moving it will show they aren't in the business of hiding anything. Just doing their jobs. I know some people will probably make a guess about what this is about, but if so, they will also know why there must be no here's why I won't buy PC in here at all. I encourage others to report and ask for the removal of any post that violates this. Let's see if this poll can be taken and stay legit within the rules.

No matter what happens to the Elder Scrolls series, I will always and forever buy them on the PC and only the PC. http://www.rpgitalia.net/main/pafiledb/sshots/1.1b.png

I changed my plans, I'll be getting the Xbox 360 version.

I don't think there's any problem with giving a good reason for it, they won't lock the topic for that.:
I"ll choose the 360 version because Steamworks ties the game to a single Steam account unlike the 360 version
which you can play from multiple accounts if you have the disc.

I don't own a Television. So console is not even an option for me. It's PC for me, by default.

See I never got that to work with Oblivion quite right. Of course Windows 7 did recognize all functions of the controller when just plugging it in (is a wired Madcatz), but apparently, Oblivion does not support all the controller's functions. Specifically, it seems there was no way to map the three things regarded as anolog. Those would be the two sticks and the two trigger buttons counted as a Z axis. Hopefully, they included such support in the PC version.

Too many rules and unnecessarily so. Why stifle conversation? Ugh... I don't really care, so don't worry about answering. Touché!

Poll: Planned to get it for PC and have not, for even a split second, considered changing my plan or preferred platform. There's nothing about the PC version which I don't like that I cannot change. I am sticking with PC 'cause:

  • "Face melting" 8x optical stimulation per second
  • Keyboard+Mouse+360 Controller
  • Modding/Mods
  • Reduced loading times
  • I don't have/want a console
  • My computer is made by NASA
  • I can eradicate achievements on PC entirely to keep 'them' out *adjusts tinfoil hat*

I'm getting the PC version, but am wondering whether to actually get the 360 version, complete it then get the PC version and be even more blown away by the graphics. I will also be able to do the mod thing as well.

People, how much clearer can I be than to say do NOT include any reason? I don't want anything to get this thread moved out of Skyrim general where it belongs. Please follow the rules and edit any violating posts. Or I will have them do so. I too want free speech, and there is a distant corner of the forums out of sight of the Skyrim forum where you can freely talk about it. And not get seen by a majority of the active browsers right here.

Let the poll speak. To Bethesda. Think about it.

Nope. Also I like pie. Pie's great, isn't it? Especially pecan pie. I'm going to try to make a pecan pie this year for Thanksgiving. I never made one before so I expect it to be quite a challenge. I haven't gotten around to looking for recipes yet. I know it involves pecans, syrup and some kind of crust. Maybe some cinnamon or brown sugar for added flavor. Oh, and icecream to go with it. I sure wish I could find some Bluebell icecream. They don't sell it around here. Only in certain places in the south.

Sorry if I'm boring you with all this talk of pie and icecream. Unfortunately without being able to explain my reasons for sticking to the PC version this would have only been a one word post.

This forum has it's own rules , is not fun to be threatening everyone with bans , noone is violating any rule they are giving replies , there is no need to make your own rules on a single thread.

I haven't changed my mind and i will get it on PC , i am waiting for reviews to see if i will get a 360 or PS3 version too :)

Not even death will stop my gaming.
And why the heck would I get it for anything else than PC?

I never have and never will own a console, as the only benefit I see for them are exclusive games like Resistance or Uncharted. But I would never spend a bunch of money on a console system for a few simple games.

I have a PS3, PC and have access to a 360 if i really wanted to use one.

And i'm going with PC.

Edit: Of course if i only had a console i would just get it for that and be happy i could still play the game.

I'm still gonna have it on PC. Steam is the only reason no to do it, but not a good enough reason compared to all the advantages.

I didn't intended to answer this thread (just the poll) but given your admirable position about it I did it anyway.
