If we have beards now...

Post » Wed Jan 05, 2011 12:21 pm

I wonder if we'll see beards on Dark Elves. Full Nord-like beards would be weird, but something like http://images.uesp.net//2/2e/MW-npc-BolvynVenimFull.jpg from Morrowind would rule.

I hope to god the Dunmer can have epic beards.

Yes.

Now before I get shot, I never said that argonians should have hair. Their "beards" could be a cluster of chin scales that merely look like goatees, which needs to be available for both sixes. Those who don't want it don't need to choose it, those who do are free to do so, which is very much like picking a beard style in Fallout 3.

I'd love to see some variety in the actual facial structure of argonians as well: beaks, divets, more spines, frills, nostril placement, and so on. Komodo dragons don't look exactly like crocodiles, for example. Maybe a really old argonian will have his frills merge with his spines. The age slider in Oblivion already changes the color of scales (unless my memory is faulty, it usually is), so that particular aspect has been considered and implemented; maybe not particularly well, but implemented nonetheless.

Not that I want to turn argonians into draconic look-alikes, but the following pictures can at least act as a springboard for more ideas: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/MM35_gallery/MM35_PG71.jpg http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/MM35_gallery/MM35_PG81.jpg http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/MM35_gallery/MM35_PG78.jpg http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/MM35_gallery/MM35_PG84.jpg http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/MM35_gallery/MM35_PG72.jpg http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/MM35_gallery/MM35_PG86.jpg
That's more what I had in mind. I'm bad at wording stuff.

I certainly hope not, my guess is that it will only apply to humans and orcs with possibly elves.

It's bad enough that the females have briasts. They're reptiles--they lay eggs and have scales. Hair cannot grow through scales.

Then again, velociraptors were reptiles and they had feathers, so... Who knows.

Feathers aren't beards. :frog:

i feel like with all the crazy argonian npc's we've seen, there might be one in skyrim who either tries to grow a beard, or wears a fake one

They're water reptiles, so feathers wouldn't be something they'd have. And don't you dare use that line "they can walk and talk" that's not even relevant.

Be good, but it would have to be continually full of air or some type of gas.

Or when its deflated it looks like a withered sac.

Perhaps they can have chin spikes that could be changed (color, length, variation).

I swear thats what I was coming here to say. It only makes sense considering they have horns/spikes on their heads that facial hair could be done in a similar fashion.

Spikes, scales or fins would work. But the anatomy of an argonian does not support hair growth.

They should have normal facial hair, yes. Just for the sake of having a hideously ugly character option.

That head shape is just great, you have to pull the head back so that it stands tall, like a humanoid Argonian, and it would be a great head shape.

I would like the beard as well, if it would be a but smaller.

I don't know why Arena's argonians look more like Orcs.

Maybe Bethesda can confirm that there will be bearded argonians in the game, only to have it end up there there is simply a cave filled with argonians that wear the faces of imperials which they have killed.

There is a type of lizard called a bearded dragon. It would be stupid for argonians to have beards made of hair but they could have a turkey gobble-type-thing or something like a bearded dragon's beard.
