If we have beards now...

Post » Wed Jan 05, 2011 3:38 pm

So...it's been confirmed that you will get to have beards in Skyrim; this poses the serious question of whether or not I will be able to give my Argonian characters a beard. They obviously couldn't have actual hair (or COULD THEY?), but they already have a series of spikes and fins on their head s 'hair.' Therefore, they can have have beards.

It would be a bit odd for a reptilian to have a beard and from what I know they don't have spikes in the right area for a beard

Argonians are reptile-like creatures, not mammals, they can't have any hair.

It's bad enough that the females have briasts. They're reptiles--they lay eggs and have scales. Hair cannot grow through scales.

Then again, velociraptors were reptiles and they had feathers, so... Who knows.

I voted “Uhh, maybe?” because I assumed you ment all the beast races.

khajiits with a full beard/lion mane would be sweet.

Lizard beards would be stupid.

I highly doubt argonians will have feathers anyway. What you all seem to forget is that argonians are water lizards. Let me ask you guys this, have you ever seen or heard of a reptile that spends a great deal of its life in water have feathers? If anything, expect fins and spikes to come back as their "hair." Maybe argonians can have horn "goatees."

When was the last time you saw a water lizard with a sword?

Are they cold blooded?

Dinosaurs had feathers.

Birds likely evolved from dinosaurs.

Maybe they’re like penguins?

Maybe they'll have spiky, beard-like protrusions from their chins. These protrusions would be more like a collection of horns than hair.

It would be funnyo to see a argonian runing around in disguise trying to pass him self off as a imperial wearing a fake beared, sun glasses, and a hat.

I can't imagine how argonians can survive in Skyrim anyway. It's way too cold for them.

Yes.

Now before I get shot, I never said that argonians should have hair. Their "beards" could be a cluster of chin scales that merely look like goatees, which needs to be available for both sixes. Those who don't want it don't need to choose it, those who do are free to do so, which is very much like picking a beard style in Fallout 3.

I'd love to see some variety in the actual facial structure of argonians as well: beaks, divets, more spines, frills, nostril placement, and so on. Komodo dragons don't look exactly like crocodiles, for example. Maybe a really old argonian will have his frills merge with his spines. The age slider in Oblivion already changes the color of scales (unless my memory is faulty, it usually is), so that particular aspect has been considered and implemented; maybe not particularly well, but implemented nonetheless.

Not that I want to turn argonians into draconic look-alikes, but the following pictures can at least act as a springboard for more ideas: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/MM35_gallery/MM35_PG71.jpg http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/MM35_gallery/MM35_PG81.jpg http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/MM35_gallery/MM35_PG78.jpg http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/MM35_gallery/MM35_PG84.jpg http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/MM35_gallery/MM35_PG72.jpg http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/MM35_gallery/MM35_PG86.jpg

Well, could you put hair on Argonians in Oblivion? If anything they'll just get some extra horns or jewelry or something to put on their chin.
