Have 1 credit left, what should I use it on?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 1:54 pm

Topic/Poll.

I re-invented my Engineer into a now Engineer/Soldier build (just got back to 20 again). And I've spent all my credits, except 1 lonely one.. lol.

I will NOT be posting my build because, well it's MY build :D. BUT, I will tell you some details:

Medium Body-type
Weapon Loadouts: AR/SMG, & Shotgun/SMG

And I can't decide.. therefore I want to see what you guys/gals say! :disguise:

EDIT: PLEASE POST depicting why you chose what you voted for!!! :)

Silent running. Downed fire leaves you with barely any health and firewall is okay but I don't like it personally.

Never got the point of downed fire, it's kinda like HEY ENEMIES HERE I AM I'M WILDY SPRAYING AT YOU FINISH ME OFF.

Silent Running is a must IMO.

Is Silent Running really that good? I can see it being great for a Light-body... but for a Medium? :read:

Having had it used against me... Downed Fire doesn't get a lot of kills BUT, when there's something else around to distract (like say, that bomb you need to defuse or the hack box you want to take off or the item you want to return) that's when Downed Fire can be deadly and potentially extremely useful.

It works great on any body type really, good for if you decide to take a flanking route or go for a rambo revive... generally just for avoiding detection. Works on bots, you can pretty much sprint right up behind them.

I use Silent Running and dont notice much of a difference, but for a Solder/Engineer it makes no sense to get Firewall Command Post (Operative) and as others have said, Downed Fire is just like having an arrow on your head.

I only play VERSUS so "Silent Running" is of no use, it may work for Bots but is useless against Players

Firewall is ok but I don't think the Advantage is worth the Point

Downed Fire, in my Opinion, is a Beast. It may not be useful all the time but when you try to protect an Area, Hack Box, Safe etc. it can be pretty devastating. Most people think you are easy prey and they don't want to spend Ammo on you so they go into Melee Combat to kill you. And this is when Downed Fire shines, I more then once killed of enough people to keep them from detaching the Hack Box etc.

I would go for Downed Fire!

Downed fire. Personally I find that not many people even pay attention to their radar, and as an engineer you usually dont move around a ton anyways. Besides, often you -want- to draw people to your position, because you've got mines and turrets set up to take them out when they show up =P

Downed fire is just awesome if you ever get taken by surprise, you may die but you'll take out the attacker with you. Firewall command post is going to be useless if you're an engi/soldier most of the time, as the firewall only remains as long as you are an operative.

I voted for Firewall. It's a classy operative ability, and if you ever play that class it's worth taking. If you don't, take Silent Running - I've definitely noticed a difference in the distance at which people notice I'm there. Downed Fire is [a] useless, and [b] CoDish. Don't promote its use.

Downed fire, gives you something to do while waiting on the respawn timer ticking down or a medic showing up. Plenty of cheap kills on dumbasses who haven't figured out it is in game too.

I voted for silent running. I have it on my main (medium engy/ soldier) and run around with a silenced AR. Silent running makes it so that you don't appear on the map to ANYBODY unless you are right up on them or they mark you with their sights. It doesn't just work on bots but human players too (you will not appear as a red dot on their HUD even while sprinting until you are close). I don't like being marked on a radar unless I am shooting my weapon or am right up on a mofo and this makes it so that you cant be hunted down while sprinting to the objective. Obviously its very useful for a light but since mediums are a balance of heavy and lights its good for them too.

If not then take downed fire it definitely makes you a distraction if nothing else. Cant tell you how many times recently I have been in a firefight only to take extra damage cause of some a-hole whos spraying me from afar while down lol.

If you EVER use SMART, EVER, AT ALL, and if you EVER use the sprint function, EVER, AT ALL, then Silent Running is worth having. SMART/Sprint makes you light up enemy radars immediately, and someone with a decent set of headphones will be able to find you by sound at mid-range without needing to look at the radar. Silent running takes away that liability.

I'd only pass it up if I'm going Heavy, and even then it's only MAYBE.

Firewall isn't bad, but it doesn't help as much as having a couple of designated "they're stealing our command post, go murder them to death" people on your team. It doesn't help much more than not bothering, either, to be honest. Regardless, by the time you get there, it's probably already changed hands.
