Progress is not only about rude power but new graphic techniques. DirectX 11 implements many new techniques that requires specialized hardware. Also, DirectX 10 cards, like it or not, are outdated hardware.
As said, Crysis 2 is an high end game and it requires high end hardware if you want to max it out. DirectX 11 features are parts of the "Ultra" settings, so a cheap DirectX 11 card won't be sufficient.
Sooo... why is the default graphics of this game set on DX9? Lol
DX9 is way more outdated and yet they went with it instead of DX10.
Isn't there a few DX11 games out there that enables you to use DX10 features that are compatible with DX11.
Also from what I can tell, Crytek pretty much built the whole game using DX9 as their blueprint.
