That's not exactly what I'd call proof. What might be more convincing is this. If you think about the machine guns added in the DLCs, you've got the BAR which uses the .308. HH adds the .45 Auto SMG. Granted it's not the .45-70 gov't, but it is .45 cal. OWB adds the K9000 and FIDO which are .357 and .44 respectively. From the stock game we've already got 5mm (minigun), 9mm, 10mm, 12.7mm, 5.56mm (light machine gun), .22LR, and electron charge pack.

That means that what is missing a machine gun, is the energy cell, microfusion cell and the .50 MG.

Of course, that doesn't include shotgun shells. Also, just as the .45 Auto is the same caliber as the .45-70 gov't (same diameter and all) and thus takes it's place, the same could be said of the 12.7mm and .50 MG. So that does make for a bit of a flaw in that reasoning.

A 50 cal machine gun would be fun but think of how quickly that would use up the ammo. 50cal is already the rarest, most expensive and heaviest (in hardcoe) ammo there is, the machine gun would have to be 'God like' to justify this (granted, 50 cal and AMR are quite easy to get in HH). If not, then I think most people would just save their 50cal for the AMR. And in any case, a 50 cal Heavy Machine Gun (e.g the M2 Browning) would definitely be a tripod mounted weapon, which I don't think the engine would support (although to be fair the minigun should also be a mounted weapon).

Now that we're talking about fantasy guns, my dream weapon would be 30x173mm rifle. :D Three types of ammo: TP which is the normal variant, APFSDS which is the AP variant, and MP which is the high-explosive variant. Very expensive ammo and very low rate of fire (like Gauss Rifle), but very powerful.

Theres evidence of the Bozar a new 50 cal rifle from Sawyers twitter pic, a full on 50 cal machine gun seems highly unlikely unless its unique and even then, we'll undoubtedly get a few new weapons as we have with each dlc I'm wondering what EW and melee will get.

Now Bozar would be really nice, although I'd also like Vindicator Minigun and Gauss Pistol.

The 12.7mm in this game is not a rifle round, it is like the .50 that a DE uses. It is not like the 12.7mm mg the russians would put on a tank.

Who in their right mind would even consider using a weapon that would weigh in at minimum of 40wg with the 'Heavyweight' perk active? The M2 BMG is a freaking brick heavy chunk of hardware.

Then there is the slight problem of it being abit hard (impossible) to control without a Proper tripod mount.

power armour was designed to allow one man ordinance teams-alsoif it makes it fair why not make it weigh 40 pounds to keep the balance group happy *sigh*

The 40wg is with the Heavyweight perk active. Looking at 80wg base weight with a min spread of 6-8 due to the massive recoil to keep it remotely plausible. It would just end up being another useless gimmick weapon.

You speak the truth but as far as I can tell, the devs doesn't really care so much about realistic weight and spread etc. Look at the minigun and grenade machinegun (which I'm going to assume is roughly the real world equivelant of an autocannon), by that logic they should weigh just as much, if not more, than the M2 50cal.

The mini gun weighs 66lbs and the .50 mg weighs 84lbs with no ammo IRL (from wiki)

In terms of man portable firepower the 5mm fallout mini-gun doesn't shatter the barriers of common sense like a full auto .50 machine gun trying to do the same thing would. It's just hitting the logic wall here for even a over-the-top DLC and best left to PC mods where it already exists.

Now a .30 M1919 would be doable and if the game could hack it use the .30 M2 AN version that had up to 1,200-1,500 rpm. That would be excessive and yet practical firepower.

I would rather have a full auto shotgun or have the return of 2mm EC.

But Bozar or .50 MG would be cool to... I guess.

I've handled, fired and maintained a 30mm autocannon in real life (mounted on a tank) and it weighted some 150 kilogram, and it had almost no recoil (a matter of few millimeters). The ammo is quite heavy though, and personally I could carry only like 15 at the same time. I would say that the autocannon, or a shorter version of it could be done since we got miniguns in this game too. A power armored soldier or a super mutant would have no problems with it.

But a fantasy rifle I'm proposing, it wouldn't need to be so big since the distances in this game don't require a very long barrel. Also the gun would have ammo capacity of one, meaning you would reload after each shot.
