Have to finish New Vegas before Skyrim comes out

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 12:13 am

So I waited for all of the DLC to come out before starting New Vegas in earnest. So far I have made it through "Things that go Boom!" ( I am doing an NCR play through), I have finished a fair amount of side quests, and I have completed Dead Money and Honest Hearts.

I still have LR and OWB to finish as well as completing the rest of the NCR quests.

I am hurrying through because I know that when Skyrim comes out, i will probably give my attention to that game. As I have a wife, a toddler, and a job, my video gaming time is limited, so I am making the most of it while I can.

Anybody else feeling the rush till 11 November?

Not really... I'll be paying more attention to Skyrim, that's for sure. But that doesn't mean I'll put NV away forever. Soon I'll get that New Vegas itch that needs to be scratched.

New Vegas Itch sounds like an STD...

Nah, never played any of TES games before, I may buy the GOTY edition whenever it comes out but I doubt I'll get it until then.

Skyrim will be a booty-call, but Fallout NV is my true love.

I still play Oblivion and FO 3 now and again, so not forever.

Skyrim doesn't look anything special, just another - albeit nice looking - dungeoncrawling hiking sim from Bethesda. Why should anyone stop playing anything because of it?

I like the Fallout series but love the TES series. Both are great in their own respects and I can't wait for Skyrim :tes:

I could say I ignore Skyrim because it makes me look intellectually superior to reject mainstream products, but the truth is that I just don't like fantasy settings.

So I waited for all of the DLC to come out before starting New Vegas in earnest.

If you're the type who waits for all the DLC before really hunkering down and playing through it all, why are you worried about Skyrim's release day? Won't you just play it a little, then shelve it while you wait for all its DLC to be released? In the interim, you can make good use of New Vegas.

Nope, already beat the game 7 times. I do know my family will never see me leave my room for at least 3 days when Skyrim comes out.

I played Oblivion, Fallout 3, FNV and there all the same... with guns or swords, it's all good

Ps Fallout 3 is not Fallout 1 or 2, but Oblivion with guns :P

Oblivion with guns indeed.

And yes, it's basically all the same, guns or swords. Which is a pity.

Maybe if Obsidian had enough money to build an engine and make there own 3d Fallout it would be different.

They already have an engine of their own (the Onyx Engine). Looking something like this thus far: http://eu.dungeonsiege.com/media/screenshots/ds3_screenshot_06_1280.jpg http://eu.dungeonsiege.com/media/screenshots/ds3_screenshot_01_1280.jpg

1. Looks good.

2. Gives me a little Fable vibe, which i love, but not for Fallout... but the other one looks great.

Take the freedom you have in Fallout (and maybe a bit more) put it in a medieval setting and allow more diverse race picks. The story..is a bit more complicated as it has tons and tons of lore behind it.

The visual quality was mostly what I was trying to show up -- surely, if a Fallout game was made with that engine, it wouldn't look like that (cartoony Fable esque). The screens are from Dungeon Siege 3.

TBH though I think New Vegas will STILL have superior roleplay capabilities. TES has a habit of generally supporting the thief, mage and warrior playthrough so those are the three provided with a guild, wheres New Vegas basically gave the people 14 different factions to work with. And the races really don't have very different abilities. Breton and Altmer are the only two that have constant, long-term benefits; the traits system in New Vegas makes characters far more diverse than the race system ever has. Not to mention, the perks they've shown so far don't look that amazing.

That's one of the reasons I'm not DYING to get Skyrim. I'm sure it'll be fun and I wanna see what the radiant AI means, but I don't have such high hopes for it as an RPG like New Vegas.
