Have Fun with TESO on sunday.

Post » Fri Mar 28, 2014 11:34 pm

Due to the game launcher being completely unable to download due to an annoying error that no one on the tech support staff knows how to fix where I get a message saying "Reliable Source Serving corrupt data" I will be unable to play sunday. I hope you guys really enjoy yourselves. :(

The solutions with TERA don't work because ESO doesn't have an APPDATA folder entry.

I've spent the last 8 hours downloading the client twice with fresh reinstall and about a hundred troubleshooting methods.

Thanks a ton for the help though :)

here is what they give as a sollution

Spoiler

We have seen some success if you clear your launcher cache.

Delete the "Live" folder from c:/users/[your name]/appdata/local/TERA/Launcher/

Appdata is a hidden folder. To show hidden folders

Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Folder Options.

Click the View tab.

Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files, folders, and drives, and then click OK.

you could try unistall the entire game then.... make a virus check, a registry clean up (load regedit and in the search tab search for Zenimax entry folders, delete these)...

then install it again!

Have you tried completely uninstalling ESO, and erasing all remnants of ESO from your computer, dumping the recycling bin, then RE-installing it from scratch?

That will solve your problem, and you have plenty of time to do it.[assuming your internet is at least average, and can download 20gigs in at least 24hrs.(5 Mbps ISP)]

You would think it would solve the problem, but it hasn't sadly. This is my second time trying that. This time I am even moving the ESO folder to just the C:/ and not in the program data folder to remove and possible restrictions placed on file operations.

That is really odd. I'm not sure what else you could do... I hope customer support can help you find a solution ASAP.

There is a community forum in france with the same problem, but I cant speak french... http://elderscrollsonline.fr/forum/index.php?topic=563.0

maybe u could translate it and see if there is any solution,

after edit : dont bother with the french, nobody answered him lol...

IF u need help, how to manually clean your registry, just ask... After you unistnall, its good to clean your registry as well.

Yeah, I was elevated all the way to the top of the Tech Support team and she even said that their best members can't figure the error out, and it has been happening to only a few people. It's annoying because I can run the client without error using the .exe file in the ESO folder. It's so stressful. I just want to get what I payed for :(

Don't give up hope just yet. Will customer support maintain contact with you while they continue to work on it, and keep you updated? If others are also experiencing this problem, and their best are aware and working on it, then there is hope they will fix it soon.

I found a workaround for this problem in beta for a friend by copying my complete installation to his pc, launcher still doesn't work but starting the game directly worked then and he played without problems

Can I ask you, to do something.. then try again. If tera game had problem with the appdata hidden folder... Maybe thats a solution? I always have them visible (all my hidden folders from the first day I install windows).. so....

Load control panel, folder options, click the "view" tab and click the box " SHOW hidden files and folders".

elder scrolls online DOES have a live folder I found it! go there... C:\Users\your user name\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\

so try the TERA fix

first allow to show hidden files in your system

then go in

C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\Temp

make sure the launcher is closed and you are not installing anything other

check if there are some files beginning with: etilqs_

delete them if you find some

go in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online or The Elder Scrolls Online EU if you play on EU

delete the folder depot

start your launcher again

Though if I delete the depot folder won't I have to download the game all over again?

yes, you'll have to sadly (perhaps there are corrupted files). sure you'd rather make a fresh install in that case

but first try to delete the etilqs_ first then start the launcher

From sevenforums.com, just in case.

etilqs is backwards for sqlite, which is a database file used by many programs, including firefox

As for whether it is safe to dispose of them, my suggestion would be to cut the files out of the folder and paste them somewhere else for a few days, and see if any of your programs have lost any data / fail to work

If you're happy that all is well, then you can delete the backups you made safely.

Sadly this didn't work either. Looks like I am not going to be playing ESO.

add xxx to the end of the folder names eg: The Elder Scrolls Online EU xxx

This worked a cpl of beta ago to fix a similar corrupt source bug.

Then in launcher under game settings hit repair.

I just realized my mistake, sorry about that.

rename

C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online EU\depot\patchdata.depot

if you have one

into

C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online EU\depot\patchdata.depot_old

try again

he will have to redownload the game also somehow
