I have just joined the world of PC gaming

Hey guys, after over a decade of drooling over mods but not being able to play them because I was using a mac, I just bought a not too bad gaming PC (imo). It is a core i5, 8 gigs RAM, GTX 560. Not the biggest beast out there by any means, but I am happy.

Anyway, I have no idea what to do now. What do I need to get a steam account? Do I need a credit card? I don't have one. This machine can run Skyrim fine, but the first game I want to experience with mods is the game that got me into TES - Morrowind. It is time to revisit Vvaardenfell but with mods. I am sorry I am so clueless, I plan to work on that, but I would like to get going asap. A little help, please?

You can get Morrowind from Steam, nice thing is you won't have to have the disk in to play it. Mods are a bit trickier, but no big issues there.

I have seen Morrowind GOTY In stores like Walmart recently, but the best bet is probably an online etailer if you wan the disks.

Note, if you have Windows 7, look into installing your games somewhere else besides Program Files. I think it is even best to not have Steam there too. Most people make a directory called C:\Games and then create folders in there for the games.

Thanks for the tip. I am a complete noob with Windows. I literally haven't used it since Windows 98 aside from the odd encounter here and there. I love it so far.

The first mod your going to put on is a texture mod, so use this page to select which one

http://www.paulcarr.com.au/elderscrolls/textpacks/

Then of course there are all the other graphics mods, like the Better Potions, Better Soul Gems, Better Bodies etc.

I think there are combined packs out there. There is a massive Morrowind overhaul mod out there that is popular, but I think it is too much of a change right away.

Can you recommend a good link to learn how to install mods?

Also, if I go the Steam route, what do you need to make a Steam account?

Thanks for your help. I am so excited about this it is ridiculous. I might call in "sick" to work today.
