I have nowhere to live :(

Post » Mon Jul 19, 2010 7:52 am

Have any of you came across any cool places to live - that arnt designated living quarters gained through quests or so forth. In Fallout 3, I had many places where I lived and stored stuff. It helped roleplaying and gave me something to do. However, in New Vegas I haven't came across any suitably cool places to live. Maybe im just weird because a quick google/forum search didn't come up with much in terms of my request. Do any of you guys like finding buildings to call your ''home'' ? :)

Wolfhorn Ranch looks ok I guess. But a quick Wikia search said that powder gangers have a tendency to spawn outside randomly - not like they're a threat because they're not, however if I came home in real life to a pair of homeless chavs everyday i'd be slightly aggravated.

You could try using the Abandonned Shack.

Also I never notice any Powder Gangers there at Wolfhorn Ranch.
Also the Legion Safehouse is the most awesome house ever.

Field's Shack outside Boomer territory is pretty safe, IMO. Also has crafting benches inside, though no campfires, IIRC (WHY CAN'T WE USE STOVES?!)

The abandoned trailer by the Goodsprings Source is great for early game and next to source of rad-free water if you're playing hardcoe.

If you're pro-House, you can take the Lucky 38 presidential suite, or even the lucky 38 penthouse.

There's Harper's Shack, up the hill to the west from Ranger Station Charlie. It has everything, including a campfire right outside and a couple of plants to harvest, although the plants will not respawn unless you do not return for just over 3 days. It is a bit more south than some folks would like, and the neighbors aren't exactly friendly sorts, but the FT marker is right in front of the door and said neighbors aren't close enough to be much of an issue. It's also just south of the Repconn Test Facility, although the hills are such that you have to go around in either direction to get from there to the shack or vice versa.

There are also a number of Safehouses scattered around, however you need to be in good with the owning faction to gain access so I'm not sure if those would work or not.

Victors house in Goodsprings. He doesnt seem to mind, and there is a water tap inside, four storage items counting the oven and a bed. Honestly I think this is the best base for the first third of the game.

Some missions award you with a room and bed but I wont mention them here.

Interesting question :)

I suppose it would be more valid in FO3 where you can actually save your progress and keep adding to your various player housing even after the main quest.
Sadly we know the inevitable canned end-slides are all that's waiting for us at the FONV finale, and imo defeats a lot of the purpouse of doing this kinda thing.

If I'd realised how much stuff I'd end up with, I'd have picked somewhere with a lot of storage (boxes, safes, fridges etc) and organised my loot so it was easier deal with. As it is, everything is scattered around a motel room as if a particularly untidy gun crazy teenager had taken up residence.

most storage units don't respawn. i know for certain that the motel room at novac doesn't and easy pete's house doesn't. to play it safe, put some minor items in containers of the building or room that you want to use. leave the area and come back in five days. if it is going to respawn, it should do it in five days i don't recall anyone here complaining about storage units respawning.

Decided to have a tidy up and it turns out the Novac motel room is very for organising things, there's a fridge, two wardrobes, a safe, a suitcase, a bedside table and a footlocker for separating stuff and it isn't as ugly as most of the safe houses and shacks. There's a three local merchants for smaller items and mine even has a ghoul just by the motel entrance that (who?) regenerates every couple of days and is usually good for a few caps.

Good idea storing your stuff outside, means you don't have to go through loading sequences to get to it.

Her name's Sunny Smiles I think.

Nevada Highway Patrol, plain and simple.

Why?

1). Very close Fast Travel location (basically spawns you right at the door)
2). PLENTY of (non-respawning) containers to store crapola
3). Naval cot (though no "Well Rested" bonus)
4). I remember there bein' at least a reloading bench
