Have played turn-based, party-RPGs until now...

Greets Dwarwes, Elves, Gnomes, Half-lings....

...would I say to you, if Obli was a "traditional" RPG, but it isn't.

I used to like party management in Bard's Tale series, Wizardry, Baldurs gate, etc. , but would Obli grant similar fun factor by babysitting my single tamagochi?

Yes, it offers more realism, story, character development, open world, visuals with mods, but battle & magic wise: isn't it an action hackn - slash thingy?
At least, I see no possibilities for pleasing battle tactics currently. Or will party / companion mods grant team-based tactics?

Although I experienced some cool interaction with game objects / traps right in the beginning dungeons.
Maybe this interaction with environment and char development is the key attraction in single-RPGs?

But, still unfortunately I see no need for "endless" lurning curve in Obli - although I know little about it.

So, what would be attractive in a very modded Obli - for one, who is seeking / used to turn-based, party RPG feelings?

Thanx if you know sg...

The party-based games usually restrict an individual character's capabilities, and rely on the entire party to provide the balance needed to handle everything. In a single-character RPG you need to become more of a jack-of-all-trades, or at least jack-of-all-defense. You can either look at that as losing the restrictions on your character, or an extra burden to do it all yourself.

It will be different, only you can tell if that's good or bad for you.

I guess a Dragon Age would be more appropriate if you are into party battles. Or NWN, basically a BioWare game.

If you think the learning curve in Oblivion is steep something is wrong. Perhaps single player open world RPG's aren't for you- or you've read too much into the character growth process. It takes care of itself until such time as you can direct it to better effect. Not to worry. The player is taken care of. You're in good hands in Oblivion.

I can't recommend anything to help get back the feeling from turn-based combat, but for being able to have a party of adventurers with you, I can't recommend CM Partners enough. It takes care of that beautifully in my opinion. Here's a link to it: http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=7819

Also you may enjoy Oblivion XP to get back a more traditional RPG feeling in regards to leveling up - http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=15619

Try Fallout 1, 2 or Tactics. They're older games with older graphics, but that shouldn't stand in the way of a gamer.

http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=15200 by Sultericdrums is a companion mod that is based on a party-based, Dungeons-and-Dragons game. That (with the Oblivion XP mod that Cryonaut mentioned) is probably about as close as you're going to get to replicating a party-based game in Oblivion.

Another mod you might want to check out is Emma's http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=28977 companion mod.

You can easily simulate the party experience in this game with the plethora of companion mods out there. In fact, in my current play through, I have to micro manage my pet dragon when I use him. Also I nearly always have a companion or two with me as well. The key to making this type of play successful is by making sure your character and companions are not over powered. You do this by using mods once again to mainly get rid of the scaling of enemies and eventually, if not right away, a leveling mod to "hinder" your progress.

As far as I know, there isn't any mod or game setting that mimics turn based play.
