I have to praise Crytek!

Post » Thu Oct 28, 2010 2:34 am

Today I played nearly the whole campaign, I am on the last mission and I nearly played 7 hours. The effects are really great and I LOVE the storyline!! I feel sorry for Alcatraz, because he gets fouled so often! When he enters a "speer" and flies, he hits the ground and you see him closing his eyes, you have to revive him, it's so cruel Q_Q It's so sad. :< He dies from time to time, his lungs are crashed and his right ventricle is crashed, too. Prophet dies, that's sad too. The graphic is great, too. I am a fanboy now! :3

What's your opinion of the campaign?

The campaign is one of the best video game experiences I've ever had! Beat it again on Super Soldier just yesterday.

Can't say the same about multiplayer though.

Someone posted this:

So I'm really close to finishing this masterpiece and I gotta tell you, i can't remember the last shooting game I enjoyed as much as I enjoy Crysis 2. Seriously, where do I start?

I guess the obvious one, graphics! They are simply stunning, idk how crytek did it but they managed to get more outta a 360 than I have seen in the 6 years i've own the system. I'd play stuff like Uncharted 2 or Killzone 2 or 3 on my brothers PS3 think "I wish the 360 developers could make games that look this good." Now I have this game!

Story, subtle and easy to comprehend. I like how I don't have to fill in alot of blanks because like the vast majority, i didn't have the power to run Crysis 1 on my PC. Anyhow, the story unfolds wonderfully. Granted, I don't like silent protagonists but at least they up for it by making the suit the centerpiece of a lot of things on top of the aliens, spores, and C.E.L.L. Dbags running around to muck up Alcatraz's day. Good story all around.

Gameplay, unique, easy to control. Tactical too, and for real too. Not just giving you tactical gear to roll with and call it a tactical shooter. Granted, playing this on the hardest difficulty may warp my concept of the "thinking mans shooter" but really, this IS a "thinking mans shooter." Going it guns blazing into every encounter will get you no where. Absolutely no where. If you don't stop and take a look at your options and know when to hold them, it's will be a one sided S*** stomping done by the enemy. At least when you link up with friendly AI though, it isn't completely retarded and won't fire at the enemy and kill them. I dare say, they've actually saved me in a lot of spots. The weapons feel great. The fact I don't have to treasure hunt for the right set up is a dream. The suit abilities are awesome in theory and executed better than any similar game i've ever played. I like how each ability is useful too, they don't throw any useless ones in or any that absolutely make the game unchallenging.

All in all, I want to thank the dev's at Crytek for unleashing possibly the best single player shooting experience i've ever played onto the console world. I know they are more in touch with the pc side but i'm glad they saw some light. If they fixed the multiplayer server issues, this game would be a grand slam and COD killer in my honest opinion, we will just have to wait and see though.

honestly? no trolling? ....you havent played Crysis have you? (only talking about the campaign for now) Compared to Crysis, Crysis 2 is just bad.
You know I'm the type of guy who doesnt play a campaign twice cause I think it's boring when you know what's gonna happen....if it's CoD, Half-Life or whatever. But there is ONE exception: Crysis. I played through it 10 times. Ofc the first time was absolutly the best but it was just so **** awesome that I simply had to play it again....and again...and again! I've never experienced such an epic atmosphere in a game!
Crysis 2 is nothing like that....it's not bad...I even would say it's good...but the best term for it might be "standard".
C2 is unworthy of Crysis as a successor.

I will not praise them, there's no sense of immersion with the half assed alien and human AI in the game and the mute that it Alcatraz turns the game into a typical FPS story.

I can understand console gamers being blown away by the game and granted it's a good game. I've even enjoyed it 10x over Call of Duty and still enjoy it, but it just goes to show the difference in standards between console gamers and PC gamers. We've come to expect better than this, because we've had better story. Graphics are great, but we're missing all that which makes PC graphics what they can be. Like I said; we live on different planes of existence here.

Sorry that I am not born in UK or America, sorry for not having english as my mother language. And if you mean my choice of words, I hadn't much time yesterday so... ~

@nGAGE : I am sorry, I played it on PC. :< It may be that Crytek could've done better graphics, but I don't think if graphics are good enough (and they are, in my opinion) that they have to be better.

@Rayleigh : It's true, I haven't played Crysis. You see, it may be that Crysis was way better than Crysis 2, so Crysis 2 is a disappointment for you. But for me, it could be a cool thing, because I started with the "bad one". Of course, something went wrong if the successor is worse than the first part, but Crysis 2 is great. Just my opinion.

The only people happy with Crysis 2 are the ones that never played Crysis 1 the way it was meant to.

Putting Crysis on console would ruin it, the same way it ruined Crysis 2.

IMO its probably the worst campaign. I used to mod/design maps and such for Crysis but when I played this game my heart sunk. Its awful. Whatever there's other games and not to mention there's already people working on a separate Crysis using Cryengine 2. That's PC only....

Don't get me wrong,... the game looks great, even on consoles! But when you got the hardware to appreciate all the graphical extras that are possible, you want to use it. And pretty much everybody expected more from Crytek than a beautiful console game with higher res on PC.

This.

Crysis 2 isn't a bad game per se, but to me it's just another on-rails shooter and I expected much more. The only people who are raving about the graphics are console players who don't realize they're looking at a ton of bloom, motion blur and particle effects to mask all of the low-res textures.

In the original Crysis you got to zoom around a massive island and feel like Superman, Crysis 2 is a cramped corridor crawl with a story that barely makes sense. I may not even finish the campaign because I just can't get over the sinking feeling of disappointment every time I play it. Sigh. What could have been.
