It's always melee with the gun, unless you're carrying a pistol, then you have access to the knife which deals more damage. Melee with you gun will knock down the enemy, but will not kill him. There are no OHKO, unless knifing an unbuffed light.

I wonder what would happen if people slide tackled each other at the same time? would they both be knocked down (Cutting out the falling part of course...)

It would result into two individuals with broken legs of course.

I thought an interviewer once said that tackling at the same time didn't do anything. Don't quote me on that though, since I can't remember which interview it was.
