Hey

Ok after watching countless videos and such I've been looking but cant see much melee that happens all i want to know is there going to be cool melee grapples you can do? Can you slide under someone or slide and sweep kick your opponent down then finish them off with a knife kill or shoot them. I'm sure there's others but overall your game looks great guys. Keep up the good work I'm SUPER excited for the game. :whistling:

Thanks

As far as I know, the only melee combat there is going to be, it with the butt of your rifle. You can hit people down, but that won't kill them, you'll have to finish him off with your rifle.

Thanks yea I mean from videos I see the sliding and such but not close enough for it to do something to the opponent. But hitting with the butt of the rifle is alright too.

It isn't. A melee hit will knock a player down onto the ground, similar to what happens when hit by "excessive splash damage" from an explosion. The player can then be finished off with another melee attack while they are grounded or by being shot.

While grounded the player can shoot or press a button to pick themselves back up again (citation needed on the last point please).

Thanks for that, had me worried I would be raging at panic knifers or people who teleport knife me from 5 feet away.

3 types of melee afaik:

- Gunbutt
- Knife
- Sliding tackle;

The gunbutt the standard melee attack, available for everyone on every weapon. This will knock people down (and do a significant amount of damage, no one hit KO) If you knock someone down you have 2 options:
Finish him with another melee attack for a great deal of points or shoot him, for almost no points. When you're the one knocked down you also have 2 options: Stay on the ground and return fire or get up, without being able to shoot for a moment.

The slide will work in a similar fashion, except that it won't do such a great deal of damage.

The knife is only available when you use a pistol as secondary. With a buffed weapon, while hitting an unbuffed light, you can do a OHKO.

Not much details have been released about melee.

And if you watch the first Container city walkthrough video, youll see just how amazing the butt melee is... Watching that video for the first time in HD and with surround sound and all of a sudden he goes in the room to the control panel to change his class and theres a guy in his face.. BOOM!! What a sweet melee the sound and shock of it was just fantastic they did a really good job.

I don't ever recall hearing that any of the melee attacks will do "significant damage". I have only ever heard the Buffed vs Unbuffed argument applied to short rifles, I've heard no info on relative damage of the knife.

The gunbutt, as I understand it, will do some damage, but the focus is knocking people over, not causing damage. Hit someone once, they are on the ground, get in a second hit and they are incapacitated (downed), meleeing an incapacitated player will kill them so they cant be revived.

They never said it explicitely, but if a buffed knife can OHKO an unbuffed light, then we can be safe to assume that the knife will do significant damage, right?

I recall hearing that a single knife thrust will take out a unbuffed light.

Slide tackles are still in.

Wraith is right because it's unofficial so it won't be stickied. I even said that particular fact in my FAQ ^^

Not that I wouldn't like to see it stickied. Heck even the Holy Compendium wasn't stickied.

Indeed. If the Compendium couldn't be a sticky, than my FAQ certainly has no chance :P

Anyway, back on topic perhaps? Or is the OP's question answered?

There are a lot of them. Just look for green names on the forums mainpage. Some mods I've seen in this section of the Forums: Hungry Donner, Falchya, Nu_clear_day, Rohugh.

You can easily contact them by Personal message or if it's to get a thread locked or cleaned up, you can report it. Overall, they work pretty fast.

I read some where that if you have a rifle you hit them with the stock but if you have a pistol you can knife them
