Have the graphics been improved?

Post » Thu Oct 14, 2010 2:18 pm

So I've been browsing through the screenshots and from what I can tell the graphics are more or less the same as F3 with maybe slight improvements here and there.

Of course the screenshots out right now may not be what the final release will look like, and to be honest the graphics in F3 were some what plain and simple, compared to Oblivion it felt like I was running around in a box in F3 simply because it lacked a lot of textures and environments.

Anyway are the graphics getting improved? Discuss.

I've heard and seen slight minor improvements but I'm guessing it will be a similar

Though the visual style and colour palette have been altered

Yes! They've spent the last two years building a new engine full of pretty, shiny things to look at. Unfortunately, that didn't leave much time to create content, so the story, game mechanics, etc. are pretty lacking. Oh well, at least it will look sheckshy...amiright?

They've basically messed with some settings to "enhance" the graphics. They'll more or less be the same as Fallout 3s, but they'll look a bit prettier.

The textures will look nicer, so yes the graphics and animations have been improved compared to Fallout 3

The devs have gone on record as saying they've improved SOME textures and SOME animations, otherwise their efforts were mainly focused on making a whole new map, storyline, quests, and adjusting the gameplay. Which is fine with me, because as far as I'm concerned all those things trump graphics.

They got rid of the horrible green tint, I would call that a graphical improvement.

It probably felt like a box because the map was square.

Graphics aren't the most important thing to me either, it's just after I got past the fact that F3 was real and that I was actually playing I started noticing that the gameplay wasn't as great as I thought it would be. And then I noticed it didn't have noteworthy graphics to boast either.

The main story was short, it was OVER simplified (RPG for dummies is what it felt like for me), and there wasn't a whole lot to do besides running around killing mutants, looting whatever you could find, finding new locations and leveling up. I really loved the old Fallout games I don't expect the newer games to be exactly the same as those but it's nice to have some good gameplay elements to make it feel old school, New Vegas looks like it might be it too.

I'm glad the reputation system is back and improved AI and general features have been implemented. I've got a feeling there is a whole lot more to do in New Vegas besides running around, killing, stealing, and looting, lol.

My first play through I'm definitely going hardcoe mode - that will be fun as hell.

*shakes his cane in the air* Back in my day we didnt worry about no fancy graphics we had to make do with what we were given. No, in all seriousness I can understand why people want better graphics but if that means a sacrifice to the storyline then I'd rather they didn't. It would appear from what I've read the player now has to think about their actions this time around and to me, that's what RPG's are all about.

Is that green tint thing real because I can honestly say I didn't notice it.

I second this post. Never saw any "green tint" either, i'd suggest the op of the green tint adjust their monitor

yes it is real and it's pervasive as hell

maybe you didn't notice it but a lot of people (I myself included) did. I generally do not like filters as they tend to be so overused in games and are usually way too saturated. Saint's Row 2 being the most hideous example of filter abuse.

FO3's green filter was just insane, it completely obscured everything to a disgusting degree in my opinion.
I can understand having a nuclear effect for atmosphere but FO3 was just ridiculous.

what's actually more bothersome to me though is that from what I've seen of F:NV, the game does not have color, it now hows an insanely over-saturated orange

The lack of real time shadows and hideous filtering are really the only two graphical complaints I have, FO3 was great and espite what I mentioned earlier I still think the game is great and I have very high hopes for New Vegas

Oh the green tint was real. Removing it is actually the basis of the mod "Fellout." If you're on the PC; download it and notice the difference.

No i'm clean, wait do you mean the liquid coke? Yeah I drink 2 or 3 a day, but I do drink milk before I go to bed .-.
weekends I got nothing to do but stay up all night so I drink another 5 or so...
Also milk really does build strong bones, I accidently fell down the stairs at school and only suffered minor bruises!
(This has been a PSA, "got milk?")

The green tint was real alright, and it was ugly as sin.
