Have you booked time off for release day?

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 9:44 pm

No, because I have responsibilities to attend to. As much as I enjoy video games (and I do immensely), I've never taken a day off just to play them.

The perks of self employment.. Fallout 4 for days :) I have to work hard before though so I can take some days off. I will be like a vampire and probably won't see sunlight for 5 days straight once I pick the game up.

Took until Saturday off if I remember. Plenty of time to do nothing in the game but build a giant light up dong!

In all seriousness every free minute I have will be spent playing that game. No one will see me when I have time off.

I was under the impression (until a couple of days ago) that the game was gonna be released on 11th of October and that was good. But the 10th of November is not cause I'll be away with work for about 2 months and I can't get out of it, even if I wanted to. Well [censored].

I don't plan to, but it will likely fill every waking hour I can spare.

I normally don't book time off period. The timing of the Fallout 4 release goes along well with a planned time off anyway. In my 15 years at my current company, I never took a vacation until this June just passed. It was an anniversary trip with my wife to celebrate our 21st. This vacation, though also to be taken together, is more about tooling around town and enjoying some much needed r&r. I probably will not get an opportunity to do so again for quite a few years, so I wanted to have this last hurrah. That it coincides with the Fallout 4 release was truly coincidental. I had already booked it off, with the intention of sitting around watching movies or reading. Now I will get to play a video game that I have waited for over years before I even knew it was going to be released. I will get to immerse myself in the world for two or three days without interruption. It is going to be grand. No shame here for being excited. :)

So 80% of the people on this tread are silly.

Well, I am taking a week off at release, and also have another week that I am keeping to play later during the winter if the game is good enough. yep yep.

You bet! Already get the 11th off for a stat. holiday for my work, so booking off the 10th was a no brainer. Figure i'll go to the midnight release, let it install while I sleep, wake up real early and play two straight days.

November through early December are unfortunately going to be quite busy for me with projects and papers due for my grad classes. However, I'm actually attempting to get things done as much as possible weeks ahead of time so that when Nov. 10th does come around I'll have significantly more free time than I normally would. This is probably the only time that a video game has helped my studies to some extent

Yup. I'm taking the eleventh & twelfth off so I can play straight through as soon as I get home from work on the tenth.

I would try and get the 10th off but I'm not really sure when the game will arrive. I ordered from the Bethesda store and I paid for expedited shipping, but I have no idea if it'll even arrive on the 10th or maybe even the 11th.

Well, when one can't afford a trip to the seaside, one pretty much has to stay home. What do you do while you are at home? Visit the lovely Commonwealth!

Taken the following week off so I'll probably start it a couple days after release, I may have to investigate the local of a maid to bring me food and bathe me whilst I have that initial week long marathon.

I normally have Monday and Tuesday off, or swap and take Tuesday and Wednesday, so I opted for Tuesday and Wednesday that week. I plan to come home Monday and take a nap, then be up all night playing after midnight.

If I had a regular 9-5, I probably would schedule some days off. As it is, I'm sure not as many things will get done around the house & my hubby may have to make his own lunch. :) Seriously, I can't wait 'til November 10th!

I booked off release day and the 3 following days. Literally cannot wait to hide in my little game cave and stuff pizza, doritos and coffee for a full week!

My circumstances mean that I don't need to ask for any time off, so it looks like I'll be spending a lot of time playing Fallout 4 as soon as it releases. And I'm ordering my brand new gaming laptop in a few days to make sure I get the most out of it.

As for turning off my phone, I might just need that for the Pip-Boy :D
