I'm reading through Reddit right now about this. To me it's absolutely hilarious, but it seems to work out for some people. I haven't done it, but I'm just wondering if anyone here has any stories of their own regarding this.

Nope. I tell the absolute truth on my resumes.
I've omitted certain things about my military service when writing out a resume for some civilian positions I've applied for, but that was out of necessity.
I've never written a resume.
In my younger days, you got a job with an interview, a handshake, and an application form. Nobody expected a complete work history, just maybe a couple of references.
In the mid-1980s, I started my own business, and I was self-employed until I retired.
Nope. I wrote my first resume when I got out of the Navy. That training landed me a civilian job. Since then, the list of skills just kept growing. I've changed the particular skills I stressed, depending on the job I was applying for, but I never lied.
I was kinda under the assumption that everyone does.
No that would be a disservice to myself and my potential employer.
Stretched the truth a lot straight out of Highschool since entry level part time job such as a Dishwasher needed 4+ years of experience.
Ive used some creative writing to make somethings ive done sound better, not as much as many resumes as ive seen, and ive had to have omitted a bit which has shortened my resume greatly.
Like other posters I've definitely used some creative writing, but I have never lied. Any major lies I made would have easily been discoverable through background checks anyway, which almost all employers seem to do.
Until recently I never had to deal with this. I got my first job by simply asking "You need anyone?" whereupon they replied "When can you start?"
Meh, I don′t care to lie on CVs n′ stuff. Honestly I don′t give a monkey′s behind if I get a particular job these days. Every company gets so many applicants so they can pick and choose anyway and I don′t stand out enough. I can do a good job but that′s no where near enough anymore.
Besides, I have my own stuff to deal with at our place in the woods. Firewood needs to be chopped and the excavator needs to dig holes
A resume isn't anything but history, more importantly, bragging rights. I do not lie on my resume. I don't need to.
Now, ask if I lie in an interview, and my answer is "Hell yes", because I can promise you what they say isn't what they mean, so in essence, we're both lying to each other.
It's a ridiculously stupid cat & mouse game, but companies refuse to give it up.
