I don't pre-order any games anymore, my reasons are Total War Empire and Civilization 5, as a customer i have further cause for concern if i hear the terms "streamlining" or "enhanced accessability" at any point in the run-up to release day, and with Skyrim i have seen those terms or at least those sentiments expressed by Mr Howard in at least one interview, not saying those choices are a bad thing necessarily with regard to Skyrim, heck they may be an improvement, but i am saying that their implementation and effect were not to my liking in the above two games i have mentioned and am wary as a result, i will be very eager to see how taking away or merging features will affect the game, but i won't be paying to find out as i have done in the past.
Instead i'l be watching the user score on metacritic for a few weeks after release, i trust gamers opinions far more than any of the big reviewers these days, then if all is fine and dandy fraggle will let loose the purse strings, while i am confident that Skyrim will be a great game and most probably the finest gaming experience available anywhere, i see little point in betting on that being the case needlessly with the little money i have set aside for gaming, as it's a digital, Steam-only game it's not as if they are going to run out of copies anyway, also, there's a recession going on don't you know :hehe:
