Have you pre-ordered the game? If not, why not?

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 11:03 pm

The release still far away, I'm going to pre-order the game now.

If I can find a cheap digital version of the game, I'll buy it. If not, I'll take the retail box.

Who would not pre order the game? I mean this IS the TES section of the forums. I assume everyone here is a TES fan

I was a fan of total war and the civilization series too, till Empire and civ5 came out, sadly the past couple of years have shown that having a great previous game is no longer any indication of the quality of the next one in the series, the buzzword that has grabbed the game industry by storm "streamlining" has put an end to any blind faith i had in a good series.

On the bright side, Bethesda are probably among the last few game companies that have never let me down before, i am confident Skyrim will be a good game, but because i see stats and complexity toned down, and UI made somewhat er, well it looks overly simplified, but of course i'l wait till the game is out before i decide whether those were good design choices or not.

Bottom line is i'm concerned from a gaming stand-point as to where the series is headed, i won't be paying in advance to find out as i previously mentioned, i'l just wait a little while and see which way the wind blows, that way if the game turns out to be a watered down, unnecessarily simplified shadow of the former titles in the series then i'l feel sad, but i won't have anything to complain about as i won't have purchased it.

Being a fan doesn't mean blind faith at the till to me anymore, it may have done once, and slapping down my money early was all part of the excitement, but the game industry as a whole has changed a lot for the worse in just a few years in my opinion, and i've been stung enough times now for even a slow fella like me to say, "i think i'l wait this time".

I'm waiting to hear about if Steam is used. I'll get the game regardless but a box isn't as important if it requires Steam anyway.

If it requires Steam DRM and doesn't allow download from Steam with the box version, I'll just get a Steam version. If it uses the GFWL nonsense I don't know what I'll choose.

No, of course not. I wait to see if there comes a collections edition. If not I will pre-order after september. I want the game for my PC and will buy a new one for Skyrim, just as I bought a new one for Oblivion. And I will join the thievesguild if there is one in the game,

Waiting for Collector's/Special editions, assuming I choose to pre-order.

As more information is revealed about Skyrim and I'm able to form an educated guess on how good it will be I'll be able to decide. If it seems to streamlined and simplified I may not even get it at all.

There are plenty of other good games coming out later this year.

I'm waiting to find out about preorder bonuses and prices and for information on the collector's edition. Why on Earth would I preorder before I had that information?

I won't be pre-ordering. Bethesda are cutting and changing too many things in TES for Skyrim for me to be comfortable with giving them money before seeing how all these drastic changes will play out.

I will not be considering pre-ordering TES V Skyrim until it is confirmed as to wether or not Skyrim will have the use of Steam being mandatory.
If Steam is mandatory for install and/or play, then not only will I not be pre-ordering Skyrim, I will never purchase it, never play it and I will never download an illegal copy of it.
If Steam is optional for play, but not install, then not only will I not be pre-ordering Skyrim, I will never purchase it, never play it and I will never download an illegal copy of it.

I will only pre-order Skyrim if Steam is optional for install and play.
