Have you read the forum rules?

Post » Wed Dec 23, 2009 7:18 pm

I am assuming everyone who said no gets banned right? I mean it is only logical to assume they will break the rules at some point, so it makes sense to ban them now.

You haven't read all the laws of the country you live in, right? Proceed to jail, immediately.

I'm too busy getting the Bieber look right, I has to look like a sixually ambiguous 20's flapper. We don't follow other people's petty bourgeois regulations, we are the regulation.

Yiasemi=awesome.

That is all.

There are times I log a ban and it's very hard not to list the reason as "utter idiocy." :D

*note to self*
apply wit and intelligence at every turn, then scrub throughly with new and improved anti-ban hammer cream [now with minty smart ass scent].

I've read them but it's been a while so I'm sure I've forgotten some little details. I should go re-read them; with my luck the little details'd be the important ones that get me banned.

On another note what is up with the rest of the forum lately? Is everyone like "lol rules" or something? I seem to see a lot of topics that are like contests to get as long as they can before the mods close it or just full of spam.

I believe the new term is 'lul rules' though I could be wrong. I'm an old man on the internet these days.

Really there's less to talk about on the forums. No new (and worth discussing) games have been released since Wet and that was last summer.

I understand that but like.... what if a country let the rules go slack because they haven't gotten a new leader for 10 years?

Read them when I joined, and a couple times afterwards when I was bored wanting to refresh my memory.

I'm not sure we as moderators are being more slack (we aren't trying to be), but yeah, when people don't have new games to discuss here, and they still discuss things, it tends to get more spammish (Yes, it is a word, look it up). Idle hands and all that.

PS: Please don't look it up.

Have you ever read about human psychology, you just made me look it up with that last line :P

And just because it's in the Urban Dictionary doesn't make it a word :meh:

I haven't exactly sat down and read through them, no. But I have scanned through, and taken note of important areas (religion, politics, spam etc...). I'd say I've read enough to not get banned. :P

Read what was needed. Generally most of them are simple common sense really, with the addition of no religion/politics...

Read through them once or twice around the time I joined, not recently though. Most of it seems to be common sense.

I've read them several times and always refer to them if a topic I have in mind might come under fire, so to speak. :P

Generally forum rules are common laws of courtesy, so if you play nice normally you don't get in trouble. Or that's what I find anyway.

I've read some of them, too much text makes my head hurt

I have read them. Many times, usually when trying to find a loophole I can exploit.

Nope, I've pretty much learned the basics from seeing which threads get closed, and which threads get spammed by members who want to be mods.

Yes. I have forgot a few but I know the jist of them. Most forums have the same rules so it''s just nature, plus I know what to do and how not to get banned here so it's all good.

I really doubt that the majotity of members on these forums have read the rules word for word, maybe some have skimmed them. The rules are in place not to stop you posting but to ensure the forum is a friendly and fun place where you can post without fear of being flamed, belittled or talked down to. They are here to ensure that everyone can post their questions and points of view and know they will be discussed sensibly and constructively.

OK, we know that it doesn't always work like that, but you have the moderating team to oversee it all and to step in and put people on the right track if they stray from the straight and narrow. Much of the time the mods send PMs to explain what is wrong and why they had to intervene - this happens much more often than a member being warned or banned because they unknowingly or unwittingly contravened a rule.

Someone asked about the rules being updated and how they were supposed to know. Yes the rules are updated and tweaked over time because the world changes. An example of this is the inclusion of "We also ask that user names are in a Latin based alphabet." which was added just a few days ago. It is not practical to inform everyone of any slight rule changes.

The majority of members here get along quite happily and never contravene the rules - even if they have never read them - that is great, it shows what a great community we have here, and by having that community it encourages others to fit into it without problems.

Sadly there are the occasions when I have to invoke the recently added rule #12
Because Rohugh bloody said so! :stare:
