Have you read the forum rules?

Post » Thu Dec 24, 2009 9:27 am

Nope. We don't tend to hate anyone nor take things personal very often. But we do have some trouble makers that have threads all to themselves...at least for a short while.

Are you allowed religion/politics threads on the mod forum?

Yeah, we are allowed anything. :D

We are getting away from the topic, which is about reading the forum rules, so back on that.

I do admit when I joined the forum I never read the rules - probably didn't even know they existed. However, I managed to be a member for a long time without any moderator having to contact me, well until they turned up with the black van to take me away. ;)

I was Pmed way back when I first joined, by Alexander and Leydenne, both bearing the message "don't bait trolls". I didn't even know what a troll was, much less how to bait one.

I've read them once, but don't have them committed to memory by any stretch (its been years - I can't remember what I did last week let alone something I read in 2006).

I have read them twice. Once when I first joined. (just to see how BSF differed from other forums I've been on) and again when I posted in a thread and things got a little off topic and potentially upsetting to others (just to make sure I didn't do anything catastrophically stupid).

The forum code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules...

Read the whole thing before l signed up. Kind of compulsively read them after facebook banned me 3 times (thought I was a spammer). l Wrote them a strongly worded letter on why they svck. bringing points and details from the ToS to justify my arguement.

Looking back at it now, I feel like we were fighting for the same job. (if you remember that little Morrowind story I told in another thread.) Thats definitely not the case, but I always liked to have thought of it that way. For a more dramatic representation, you know?

After all, what would a forum be without it's members?

a clean, tidy, orderly place

The last thing on my mind in those days were moderation - well becoming a moderator. :D My initial reply to the offer was no thanks, I was happy in Morrowind but when they told me it would make no difference and I could still do what I was doing in that forum I was happy.

a clean, tidy, orderly place

............... and really boring. ;)

Great. I much prefer looking though a thread without those red warning bars distracting my attention.

I read the rules when i first joined....as it was my first forum to ever join, but Rohugh once pulled me up in my earlier day when i called someone a fool....

Yes, I know the rules pretty well now after being a mod over at TESA, where the rules are pretty much the same as here....I just hope the mods never start sneaking in new rules....I havent looked at the rules here in months...

you lot better not be putting in 'give us your souls to feed our young' kinda clauses...

Never read the rules, though I have on other forums, and the important rules are pretty much universal. I've never been warned/banned though, apart from my sig being changed once.

Great. I much prefer looking though a thread without those red warning bars distracting my attention.

Woah, it actually shows up under every ones name? So while you're reading posts, and you see someone with a high warn status, do you pay more attention to what they do/post? Keep an eye on them, so to speak? Or is it just to see if they'll be banned for doing something?

Actually, I read them before I created my account as one of the steps in deciding if I wanted to join.

I also read the assembly instructions for furniture-in-a-box.

Nope, I think the only time the moderators look at them is if that member comes up on their radar for whatever reason.

Which is simpler? :D

you can't have both the interesting discussions + troublemakers who do not belong here and peaceful, friendly environment, all at once

choose one or another

if I had a choice, I'd fire everything ban ban ban, sing the Ban Song all day long

Have you ever tried to assemble a small desk made in a little Mom & Pop garage factory in the wilds of Taiwan who give you instructions with no pictures and the English was derived from a poor translation program?

The forum rules a just a little simpler.
