I haven't killed anybody for ages yet the count is still inc

Some time ago, for some reason I thought that I wouldn't kill any more people in the game and leave that to whatever I summoned, or turn foes against each other with the command spell on those it works on.

What I have been doing is to approach an enemy invisibly, then use a spell I made which weakens them to 100% shock for example, while firing a blast of say 25 points damage at them and summoning a storm Atronach all in one.

I did also make one which does all those three plus paralyzes them as well for a few seconds but it is a bit costly to use in terms of Magicka.

Then later, when they have been defeated by the storm Atro, not me, the people count has notched up by one, although the assault count has remained at the same level.

This has been going on for quite a while now and it seems that there is no way around it, so maybe it's not possible to complete the game without killing a certain number?

It is possible to not kill someone if you simply run through the game with invisibility except for some quests where you're required to kill, but anything that involves you will count as a kill. So if I command a guard and he kills a bandit, then that will count as a kill for me because it was me that commanded the guard to kill the bandit.

Yeah I don't see a point in this. You command your summoned creatures therefore you are responsible for someone elses death. Your assault count shound increase only if you "assault" someone, I think thats a crime

Kills doen by summons and commanded creaturers and NPCs will count towards your kill count because they are under your control. I'm not sure about Frenzy, I think that wouldn't count because frenzied NPCs are not under your control (they will attack you for example). But I haven't tested it, so it's just a hypothesis for now.

Makes sense, as they don′t attack the player as with Frenzy. It′s like if your dog bites someone. Even though it did it, you have to pay up :P

I got the game just the other day and so far from what I can tell it's pretty hard not to kill someone by accident at some point. I've killed two people (who were fighting on my side) in the heat of battle because they got in the way. So I got landed in the slammer pretty early on.

Also it's so easy to accidentely steal something too, it's happened to me trying to talk to someone over the counter and I accidentely pick up something on the counter. :/
