Having a bit of trouble : Fallout: New Vegas

Hello there fellow forum dwellers!

I'm having some trouble with my game, and no, it is not one of the many bugs that have already been mentioned(as far as I know).
The problem I'm experiencing lies in Vault 11. I am trying to find some items for the Brotherhood Of Steel, and I need to venture into the area of the Vault called the Lower Level.
Every time I try to enter the area, the loading screen goes like normal for 5-10 seconds, upon freezing completely. Usually, this wouldn't be a problem, seeing as I could just leave the quest alone, however it is to my belief that I need to complete every quest for the BoS in order to receive the Power Armor training for the Power Armor I've had for quite a while now.
I also experience instant freezes at random times when I try to enter an area or try to fast travel.
Is this something that requires a patch, or is it a problem with my game? <- Unlikely, seeing as the first thing I did before playing was to install the game to my Hard Drive.
Played on the Xbox 360.

Have you cleared your cache?

How do I clear the game cache?
On occasion, the player might need to try resetting the file cache because of performance issues or other random problems...to do this, the player must hold the "Left Bumper," "Right Bumper" and "X" buttons simultaneously while the game is booting.

No, I never even knew such a command existed. I'll try it the next time my Xbox is available, thanks!
As for the random freezes though, it just sais "This disc is unreadable" the moment I try to enter an area or fast travel :-(
