Having a bit of trouble with NifSkope.

Post » Fri Apr 01, 2011 8:35 pm

I have messed around with NifSkope. just figuring things out. I used soe parts from some guns and pasted them on other guns. All seems fine in NifSkope.

However, when I assign the .nif file to a weapon in the GECK, I see only a part of the weapon. Only the parts that I did not touch.

Any clues?

Howdy!

Echonite made an excellent tutorial that may be right what you need for this.

It's listed in the You Tube thread link at the top, or simply click http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xf_Qt_lfMxM.

Luck!

For some reason assinging the .nif to the weapon crashes the GECK. I have done it the exact same way as in the tutorial.

Then you must not be doing something right, I've used the procedure several times now.

You'll need to post a bunch more details for any of us to have a prayer of helping you with this.

What details do you need?

I opened up my earlier mesh (The one with the invisible parts) and the vanilla nif. I duplicate the base and replace the duplicates with parts from my earlier nif. I decide to remove one part of the weapon. I right click on that part, select body, and then Remove. I click Save As. I open up GECK and edit the Sawn Off Shotgun. I try to change the model. As soon as I change the model to my new model, it hangs for a few minutes and then crashes.

Having made this from scratch again, this time copying the individual parts again but now with Echo's method, it doesn't crash. Sadly, I still get invisible parts.

Today I decided t try if the problem was in removing the barrel an replacing it. So now I just set the scale to 0.000. Sadly, all parts expect the untouched parts are once again invisible.

As I said before, there is not nearly enough information in this thread for anyone to know what's going on. Echonite's tutorial does in fact work, so it Must be something that your doing wrong.

Why don't you try posting the before and after NIFs so that someone can download and look at them in Nifskope.

Ultimately you'll need to master this process in order for it to work - but if you post the After NIF, we can at least try to see what's going wrong.

This is my final one. Only the shotgun base shows up.

The game will ignore everything that is not a child of the root node. you have 4 objects that are outside it. add those as children to the root node.

you might want to rename the drum to something else than UPB- certainly if you want it to animate...

Thank you. That was the problem.
