I don't think we can. They haven't even confirmed romantic relationships just yet, so I am doubting it.

That has the potential to be interesting and/or fun but my guess is you'd get bored of it rather quickly.

the start of my rp begins with my character being led to his execution for killing his family. He does not look forward to a new one.

:pinch: that is pretty bad.

Yea, the family thing, in order to make my character not a *ahem* virgin....I will say that his family was murdered, and he came here to find out why.
(Instead, he never finds out who did it and why, and ends up on something entirely different)

i would like there to be a family (and no fable is not what im looking for ) i just want something to populate one of my houses. i liked that there was a (minor spoiler) servant in one of the houses but she got bland really quick.

i dont know what people have against it really.

shoot even fable didnt force you to do it.

they should run some adds for self control classes in the banners on these forums.(hey if there the're you have to click on them right)

Just because it was in Fable does not mean it can not be done well in the Elderscrolls I think anything and everything can be added to a certain extent.... as long as it is implemented correctly and it is always something you could choose.

why is everyone here dead set on being lonely? the OP is the only one talking sense here! WHAT DO YOU PEOPLE HAVE AGAINST RELATIONSHIPS? they'll be optional, won't get in your way, and will add something to the game for those of us who don't want to just talk to a tree throughout our playthroughs!

i think the feeling isn't so much "having" to do it as the time spent developing all the stuff associated with relationships, marriage, children, wives, etc, could be better spent on...anything. more quests, loot, story, you name it. i would much rather they spend their time doing what they do well.."RPG", not "SIM"

is an rpg not a sim with different rules? you are simming an adventurers life. and i dont belive that horses body is still solid enough to kick (the feature=dev time thing) obviously this late in the game anything that any one the team of 80+ devs do is going to detract from what they are not doing.

how did the features that are in the game ever make the final cut i mean i would have rather they work on capes instead of a bioshock spells system or pauldrons instead of the new archery. they have plenty of people working on this game start to finish its not just 30-50 anymore.

im not even sure i would play as a husband\hunter for more than a few hours, but for all the posts i see on this forum where people are saying "i have never even done the main quest/whatever i just like exploring" maybe there are people who like exploring and then coming home to more than an empty ingame house.

hahahaha. i think if you had it your way, we'd have a classic "cater to everyone, please none" scenario. i'm not going to split hairs with you.

now did you really laugh or are you being snarky? im not spliting hairs at all just simply stateing pretty much that some features are in and some are not. some of it has to do with the devs being crunched for time and some with the simple fact that they are opposed to or havent thought of an idea.

i deffinantly do not want a cater to all ,please none game but there is a huge double standard on these forums people dont want fast travel because it detracts from realism and exploration. shoot some people dont even do the mq. they dont want this they dont want that but when someone says lets have a family people freak out and come up with all sorts of reason why it couldnt happen

i know its not easy to develop things in game (i wont even try) but kids are already in npcs are there you just need scripting (again i know its not viable this far in)

As far as I'm aware it hasn't been denied or confirmed. I would guess no but I'm always up to being surprised.

It's really strange that so many people are on this forum talking about immersion and all this but are yet opposed to the idea of a "family" in an RPG like Skyrim. Fallout 3 technically had family... your father. And that game, for me, was extremely immersing. I think Bioshock 1 & 2 and Fallout 3 are probably the best games I've ever played - immersion wise. You know I bet people about lost it when they found out children would be in Fallout 3 probably something like "I don't want little brats running around being all annoying and stuff". I'm not sure why people are so afraid of the idea of romance/family, probably because they don't want the game to seem silly or overly perverted (like fable). Which you know it doesn't have to be done that way...

Also some complain about the amount of space it would take up, I don't see a problem here because it's a feature that could be added to speechcraft/personality, getting people to like you is apparently already part of the game. As for taking up space in place of quests or dungeons, this too is ridiculous because as I have pointed out before having an in game attachment could lead to quest possibilities for instance your sweetheart/family getting kidnapped, robbed, lost, what have you. Plus it could add a powerful incentive to complete certain quests. This is something that should not be ruled out.
