having followers kill chickens in skyrim

today in riverwood i battled a blood dragon and then i had my follower j'zargo kill a chicken, why is it i have my follower kill a chicken and nobody in riverwood cared but if i do it they go psycho and try to ether kill me or hit me with a 40 septim bounty?? :confused:
