Having an option to write?

I've always wanted to take notes in-game. Usually I keep a notebook close at hand when playing TES.

I could be being really dense, but why dont you just jot stuff down on a bit of paper?

Practicality and immersion. Also, commitment to details is nice to see.

What I'd really like is the ability to add as many markers and notes as you want to the map.

Arena had this feature. I don't know why they took it out.

I don't see the use, I can right notes much faster IRL than that annoying pop-up keyboard.

I really like this idea. It'd be cool if you could write letters or maybe make your own scrolls

This would be awesome. Very immersive, which is the utmost thing Beth should be focusing on. I'd love for my mage characters to be able to conduct studies and record their findings.

I'm also on console, btw.

Lol I can just imagine some of the stuff people would write...' made a startling discovery today! It seems trolls do NOT enjoy being lit on fire!!! Wow!' Hahahaha

Alternatively they have a keyboard pad that goes under the controller which is easy enough to use.

I'd definitely like something like this in game.

And a step more, you can just plug a keyboard into the 360.

Besides, isn't the pop up keyboard for the 360 kind of an immersion killer in its own right? Go from seeing this beautiful landscape or being in a dark cave after killing some crazy monster, and all of a sudden te 360 dashboard theme comes up so you can write something? Am I the only one who thinks this?

As a console player i'd love this. It would be so cool to write books and keep journals of you'r own.

I'm worried though. Bethesda seems so keen on streamlining. It's such a slippery slope. They got rid of so much already because they deemed it useless or pointless. It's takes away so much from the depth and immersion. The dragon language in the game sounds neat and gives me hope but it feels like they are taking a shallow approach to much of the game. I thought making black soul gems was the coolest thing in the world when I figured it out and I never knew it was there the first play through.

I'm just saying I love all the little things in the game that may people might look over if they are the "dude man bro" type of gamers. My own personal TES nightmare is a world so streamlined all you do is hit button to swing sword, hit button to cast generic fireball and that's about it.

To any devs looking in on this thread, take note. The journal idea, while not essential to the game is a step in the right direction for fun, immersive fantasy gaming if you ask me. The little touches are what we love the most sometimes.

They could fix that by having a book/journal/parchement pop up instead of the keyboard. As you type it fills out the book.

I think it would be a cool idea, to ( on consoles ) Be able to write messages to people that have the game, as in friends, or the history of people that shows up that you have "met" while online with the game. You could write a message on the parchment and send it to them, where they would receive it in their game. Pointless and it would never ever happen, but yeah, it's a though.

I've long wished for an in game quest journal I could also make notes in. I have given up on that desire but I do still dream about it from time to time.

I'd love it as a basic note-taking tool, use it to plan out routes, bits of information in books that might be useful in quests etc.

I'd love to buy one of those big thick books, blank and write a full blown story in it.

I my house in Skingrad I had a huge library full of books. Rare books/ guides to cities. I kept the Lich's tome from Anvil in a glass case in my room with other strange books. I'd love to add one of my own works to the collection.

Yeah a book pops up and you use your controller keyboard or a usb keyboard to make your entries no big deal.

I'd like to write an auto-biography and sell it to a local bookstore. Maybe collect royalties too over the months. ^_^

I'd like the option ~especially the option to write comments for map markers. Baldur's Gate let you write (or rewrite) character histories. Stone Keep let you place notes anywhere on the maps. Those notes were very helpful to describe landmarks, dangers, and reminders. It wrote it out with a quill pen in the book that the PC carried.

Imagine writing a hate note to the local guy in charge, or making a riddle for the local sage.

This is a great idea

I don't know, being able to write, add notes to your journal could be very useful. Sometimes journal entries are pretty vague, and sometimes adding something yourself would be nice to do. And it would be great to add notes to your map, and markers.

To me it's practically this (imagine me playing and talking with myself):

Now I want to go to Skingrad and talk to Salmo. Oh, it almost midnight I have to go to bed. I'll write my plans for next playing.

So next time I play the game after two days, a week, month or more, I just check into my journal and see what I planned to do with this character.

That's why http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15294is awesome.
